    water in the bilge

Boy Ive been posting about lots of problems lol at least they are all little things and easy to fix so far my next problem is when we were out on the water just cruising around the bilge would fill with water not to quick, but when we were surfing it would fill really quick I had to turn the pump on every 10-15 min and it would pump for a while to empty it out I crawled under the boat it all looks good everything is tight no holes yes the plug at the back was in could it be the drive shaft seal? is there a way to test it? could it be anything else? And when checking tranny oil is it like a car with the engine running?

Do you have ballast in the boat? If so check the pumps and bags for leaks. If not shaft seal makes sense or if you have alot of peep on one side make sure you are not taking on water through the air vent.

X2 on the water in the vent if you have a big lean and leaks in the ballast pumps. Our bilge never seems to be dry either.

the ballast is filled with a pump I throw over the side and the bags are brand new the vents arent near the water line...that I noticed. My old boat the bilge was never dry either but not this much water got in. do some people have dry bilges?

I can't say mine is dry but there is usually never more than a cup or two of water. (unless I take a wave over the bow) which happens on occasion. You might also lift the hatch with the enging running and see if you have any leaks in the cooling system i.e. raw water pick up hoses or other hoses.

Take a look at the shaft packing area while the boat is in gear. I've seen that put water in the boat quickly. Might just need to be tightened a bit.

Here is something to get you started.

Just a possibility I'd look into.

I had the same problem just got it fixed. The only time I was getting water in the bilge was when I was feeling rear ballast up. Turns out hose going to rear hard tank was leaking.

Just helped fix my neighbors ballast issue. Same as Hubier, a fitting to a hard tank. If you are just filling sacs and don't have plumbed ballast I would look at the packing gland.

we always have some amt of water. sometimes a little, sometimes more. I think i have intermittent leak somewhere but not able to track down in the ballast.

your pic file size might be too large. reduce and try again.

well the shaft seal was good the ballast stuff was all good and after a while of searching I found the problem YAY!!!! Could hve been close, the clamps for the intake hose at the hull of the boat were super loose it didnt leak to bad at idle but when under way with weight in the boat WOW it leaked good I can only imagine if it popped off the trouble I would of had.
