    Strut install question

I'm replacing the strut on my 22i and am wondering about the screws. Are the screws suppose to be threaded through the hull or are they suppose to push through? My thinking is that in order to get a proper torque they should push through and be torqued with the nuts. If they screw through than the screws need to be torqued and the nut is only acting as a lock nut at that point. I've tried to verify if the threads in the holes are tapped or are only there because of the previous sealant. Any help would be appreciated.

I replaced the strut on my 98 2200v and it used through bolts with a plate on the inside. The threads you are seeing are most likely sealant "threads". Try and get a buddy for install. It got a little stressful trying to get everything torqued while the sealant was drying/curing all by myself.

You are correct in realizing the holes are not threaded, just sealant residue. Use 3M 4200 fast cure and you'll have a two hour window to full cure.

Thanks for the verification guys. Now, would you happen to know the proper torque?

Can you just look under the floor and see what is in there now? That location has to be accessible if you are going to put fasteners on.
