well I knew my fuel gauge didnt work I just times it poorly before I went to get gas and ran out lol. So time to make the repairs Im just wondering if its the guage or the sending unit. The guage jumps when I turn the key on but stays on empty? so would that mean its the sending unit?

Page 2 post 18 shows how to test the gauge. A DVOM will allow you to test the sender. Odds are its the sender.
