Got the dreaded 24v gas gauge disease

Damn my gauge was working fine for the longest time...then all of a sudden it's all over the place. Registering a constant 3/4 tank..and then 1/2. I fill it ever so slow. I get max' gas in AND never had a serious burp..on land or water.

I used to have the gauge 'stick' and to fix it I'd just 'tap' the glass on the gauge and it snap to'..now it's just stuck bouncing in a small range between 1/2 and 3/4.

I'm gonna pull the floor and check the grounds (and run some gauge tests) this week.

05 24v..seems it's a curse for this model and others of similar age. My question is TIGE doing anything about this lately?

I can't believe that you describe it as ever having worked 'well'.

MIne usually would read in 1/4 tank increments, and that was just a crude estimate. But it does sound like you have a problem now. I think with the TIge touch, you actually get a pretty reasonable reading down to the percentage of fuel in the tank.
    Be excellent to one another.

it worked fine..every once in awhile it would hang up slightly. A simple tap and it returned to normal. Never let me down

Mine is on an LCD screen in percentages too, but it's not very accurate. It will say 98% for the first 1/4 tank, then it will read 70% for a while, when it reads 60% it will take 31-32 gallons to fill the 48 gallon tank. I just got into the habit of filling it on the way to the lake each time, that way it doesn't take as much time or gas to fill it if it was empty and with less gas going in each time it has a psychological effect of seeming not that expensive to fill up the boat.

I guess I have been fairly lucky. I've only had one issue with the gas gauge. It just stopped working or registering. I pulled out the sending unit and ohm'd and measured the readings and found that one ckt reading made no change. Further testing I found that the crimp or wire on one terminal pin was poor. I pulled the pin out of the connector cavity, carefully opened it up, repaired the wire connection, recrimped and put every thing back together and it has worked fine ever since. I don't think that could be your issue, but it would be worth checking.
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!
