I went back and re-read the thread. Still I think it's a glorified trim tab. You are causing list, but you are pushing part of the boat out of the water. I bet the wave lacks power that true weight gives a wave. I could be wrong though, since I am not a fluid engineer, marine engineer or for that matter any sort of engineer
On a side note, I think bigger, deeper- taller boats are whats next for this sport. No reason we can rock deeper- taller boats. That way we can displace more and get a bigger wave! I still have yet to see a boat as deep and as tall as my 2005 24v. The newer MB boats are close.Build thread: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?14787-Duffy-s-2005-24v-wakesurfing-mod-thread&highlight=duffys+24v

Dom mentioned the price but I forgot, but not the reaction in my stomach.
So at the end of the day, a buyer will leave CC all confused and head over to MC (over priced), then leave and go to Bu, then leave and go to Tige....and there the buyer will find where price, quality, purpose meet together and walk out with a RZR (for the average buyer) and a Z3 for the guy who has an extra $30K to play.

I don't think the G23 or G25 are even close to what I am talking about I want like 6 feet of depth and free board. Then giant internal tanks. My next boat will be a 30+ yacht to surf behind!!Build thread: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?14787-Duffy-s-2005-24v-wakesurfing-mod-thread&highlight=duffys+24v

Duff,
You have still missed the point. The trimtabs are vertically oriented, and there is zero list involved. The boat moves forward straight in the water, not leaning to the side.
This is not the same as 'surf tabs' that Sanger and MC have used, that just cause the boat to lean a bit further over. Those have only had a marginal effect on the wave.
Hopefully these dangerous days are over:
Be excellent to one another.

Tall, you beat me to the point about How does a vertically orientated "trim tab" provide lift. If anything it would create yaw.
I think I am starting to understand how this thing works. Imagine when you turn while wakeboarding or surfing, the inside wake is clean, the outside wake is washed out. Since the opposite side surfgate is deployed it is essentially pushing that wake away allowing the surf side to stay clean longer. I think surfgate is creating the same effect on the wake as turning in.Last edited by turbonine; 07-20-2012, 10:10 PM.

Starting to see videos pop up with people doing wake transfers behind Malibus with the surf gate. I agree with most that a wake transfer is nothing new and has done before behind other boats, but how soon before we start seeing truly new tricks?
180 transfer, 360 transfer, transfer shuvs? Although I am not a big surfer, I am would love to a see a 360 transfer happen in the next couple months.
