I surf the dark side and the wife surfs regular, so a chance to make a changeover in seconds would mean me not having to ride switch all the time. Very attractive.

Lucky for me given the tax bracket I'm in I'll have ample opportunity to let the designs prove out for all the new Tige's, Malibu's, etc before I have to worry about making a purchase decision

I also can't wait till Ragboy gets a look at one of these and gives us a report because he is not only knowledgeable but fair no matter the brand.
that is right where I am at. I think anything that keeps pushing to a new level is so worth it, obviously some things fail or go away. But I believe that is why we are where we are today. Innovative people pushing things to the edge. Should be good for the whole market place to keep things moving forward.

I checked with Tige. Their tech manual states…
“While the Tige boat has been around for a number of years the TAPs actuator has an ongoing problem of leaking hydraulic fluid. The Tige recommended repair is to remove the TAP actuator while the boat is in the water. Once the actuator is removed the holes will quickly cause the boat to fill with water and sink. At this point the owner should drop the actuator and swim to shore. The wet frustrated person is now free to buy a Malibu”.

Don't know if this has been posted. Interesting workaround to the Patented Convex-V hull design.

Grubb says that they only had stock weight in the boat.

I think the big advantage to the Surfgate is how it lengthens the pocket. Generally speaking, the industry has lengthened the pocket by building a gigantic wave up front that tapers off as it goes back. This changes the dynamics of the wave. The surfgate wave may not be that big, but it is bigger than some waves when you look 12 feet back. I think this has some serious potential.

Tige has their work cut out for themselves to not lose market share if this performs in real life as it does in the video.

Nobody, in typical fashion, digs up a 2 year old post to try and get some people's panties in a bunch. Nothing like stirring up some crap to see if it stinks. Thanks for contributing.

                  This is ragboy's video
. As mentioned, he has a pump that goes side to side that is obviously not stock. Also, I believe he mentions that the people in the boat reposition themselves from one side to the other. Still pretty amazing wake for a 4 minute transfer time if relying on the ballast only.

In Ragboy's Z3 Side to Side in 4 Seconds that presented the above video, he says "I was watching the Malibu Surfgate teaser a week ago or so, and ...." So it seems those Surfgate videos had been out before the 4 second demo.

Of course, who cares who was first. Both are awesome showcases of how wakesurf tech is progressing

I accidently found that Malibu post as I was searching for clues to my TAPS problem I'm currently having. I found it interesting how brand loyalty tends to give us prejudgments. Objectivity gets tossed out the door and the only boat worthy of praise is the brand we own. Malibu is NOT a rinky dink operation and the video does not do justice. For the average Joe, Malibu's Surfgate is the perfect fix to a new perspective buyer. Surfgate HAS merit. With good marketing, it will be a success. Not everyone needs a pro wake. The poster may have been a little harsh and obtuse, but reading how fellow Tige owners judge Malibu's Wakegate on this forum, nothing Malibu does it right. It goes both ways. So Tall and MikeD can put their perfectly pressed panties back in the drawer, sit down and ask yourself if your truly being objective. In my opinion, your being a brown noser about the subject matter. This is a big success for Malibu and you don't like it. Plain and simple. As for the TAPS problem....it was the block relay, which of course Dom had in stock and assisted my trouble shooting....and who just so happens to be the best Tige dealer in the country. But DAMMIT, I couldn't get otta there without buying a View4RTC mirror by Protomet. Good God that mirror is beautiful!! Wait, did Malibu have an influence in the design? If they did, surely it has to be junk.

600 year old panties....surely they must below to one of you guys??

One major problem with your post. Tall is very objective, he has owned two Tiges and currently owns a Malibu. He wasn't trashing Malibu at all, he was simply stating that your stirring up an anti-Tige post from the Malibu forum is not helpful to the discussion.

Should someone define objectivity? Seems like Tall's post was about as objective as one could possibly be . . . or maybe this would be better:
                                Malibu has a surfgate!
