24V idles high

Hi have a 24v 2001 that once in idle revs at around 22-2400rpm.
stays there for a little while then will idle down to under 1000 rpm. hard to dock with this!!
Any suggestions? Mechanic has changed the throttle sensor but says it still does it

Are you sure he change the throttle position sensor, that's what's responsible for that problem but in conjunction with the idle air control valve, that may need to be changed too. Double check there are no hang ups with the throttle cable on the intake manifold.

Mine was at the other end of the spectrum, would die when put into neutral. Mine was kicking out a code but it ended up being the throttle control sensor. Shop is replacing mine right now.

Sorry about that, it is called a throttle position sensor.

Yes he changed Throttle position sensor and said he cleand AIC.
Did not fix problem.
Then said problem was with the line up of throttle position sensor to the Throttle Body so he ordered new Throttle Body. That just came in but still have problem so now that is not the problem, he is saying it is now the Computer Module.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, starting to loose confidence with this guy.

What engine does it have? If the ECM is speed density based, then a simple vacuum leak can create a high idle.

Has the 330 hp Black Scorpion, Merc I think 5.7
