    Batteries Location Moved Question?

I know someone did it on their boat but can't find it doing the search.

Someone moved their batteries from stern of the boat to just in front of the engine in the engine compartment. They were moving their ballast back farther and wanted to move and did move the batteries forward of the engine but still in the engine compartment.

Could someone please tell me who that was or send me the link to the post of for that mod????

    Thanks

That wasn't the one I was looking for but I would love to be able to do that. I don't have the room behind my engine for the batteries to go there. I really wish I did but it just won't work.

I know someone put the batteries in this area

They made a bracket that fit just forward of the engine where the batteries would sit up out of the way just above the transmission.

There was discussion about whether having the ballast bag farther back in the rear lockers would be offset by the batteries being moved forward to the enging compartment.

Thanks for the help on the post you suggested. But is there anyone out there that might remember this other situation where the batteries would moved to this spot?

I have a questions about using the bolts that are existing in these pictures:

          DSC_5275 (Small).JPG

          DSC_5276 (Small).JPG

These pictures are taken from standing in the rear locker starboard side. These are the bolts holding the transmission and Vdive in place. I was wondering if there was anyting wrong with the idea of taking these bolts out and then having a bracket made that would be placed over the same bolt location and be secured to the boat with either the same bolts currently or get longer bolts.

So instead of drilling new holes, just use the existing holes and having the backing held but the same bolts (or longer ones) that are currently holding the Vdrive and transmission.

I thought as long as I don't move anything, meaning being very careful not to move the vdrive or tranny while taking the bolts out and placing the backet over the top of mounts and then replacing the bolts, tighten them up and voila, you have a bracket assembly that is secure.

Ok...hopefully some of everyone can follow me on this and either tell me it will work fine or it can't be done.

I realize some might not thing it is a good idea to move the batteries forward from the back of the boat to this location but aside from that argument, will the backet being bolted in to the existing holes used for the mounts work?

Any input would be great. Even better finding post where someone on here did just this.

          thanks again in advance.
