New Tige owner with some ?'s

    Hello everyone. I'm the giddy new owner of an 2002 22i type r boat. Just bought it last weekend and the entire family is very excited and loves it. This is our first ski boat and only our second boat ever. It's in great shape and the interior is near new. The boat had 341 hours on it when I picked it up and I couldn't be happier with the way the original owner kept and maintained it. However, I do have some questions and would love some advice;

the boat is white with black down the sides which has the graphics on it. The black is a little faded here and there and I would like to take the graphics off, wheel it out and apply new graphics. Does anyone know where I can get the Tige graphics other than from Tige (if they even sell them)?

the original owner removed the tower due to it having some cracks. I want to install a new one but there's so many out there that it's overwhelming. Can you guys make recommendations on what company to go with and warn against companies not to go with? Are the universal towers junk?

the boat is mechanically sound and everything works flawlessly except for the steering. Obviously the cable is corroded and needs replacement. Does anyone have a P/N and supplier where I can get a cable?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

    Gordon

    Congrats and Welcome.

Post some pics of your boat.

Best place for graphics would be a local sign shop.

Samson towers seem to get high reviews although not cheap.

If you can not remove the faded black with some oxidation wax then you could try wet sanding.

For your steering cable have you looked on the old one? You could send Harvey an email at Tige for a part number if you can't find one.

Do you have the 350 merc? If you would like you cn PM me your email address and I can send you some information that I got from another TO.

Have fun with your new boat.

      Thanks Skippa.

The fading is not too bad and have a feeling compound and glaze should work fine. If not, I'll definately do some sanding.

The reason I was wondering about graphics is that our snowmobiles have custom graphics from companies that have already designed them for specific models and the selections are incredable. I couldn't find a source for a company that has them available for Tige boats. Was just curious.

I will look at the Samson lineup. Thanks

I have not looked at the cable for the number because I was told by a guy on the lake that there's better cables available than the one that's on it. I was hoping for that info.

Yes it has the 350 Merc. Don't be fooled by my user name, it actually refers to my Mustang.

I'll get some pics up if I can figure out how. Might take a few...lol

      Thanks Man!!

If you get the number off of the old steering cable you will know the correct length and kind. You can then cross reference it to a newer better one.

        Sent you a PM.

Congrats on a great looking boat and welcome to the site.

For the steering cable, send a private message to SPBfan on here. He'll know the part number and have the part. I got one from him last year and it was a pretty easy job to do yourself. There is a thread with step by step on here as well.

Dig around this site for tower info and you'll find more opinions than you could ever need.

Thanks Guys! Looking forward to a day on the water tomorrow.

Spent some time shopping towers . They ARE expensive. Samsons that is.

Samson is the Cadillac of towers But there are a handful of quality price-point towers out there too.

                              Nice looking boat!!!

Regarding the steering cable, there is a thread that shows the process:
                              http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...?t=7338&page=3

The cable you need is the following:
TFXTREME SSC154XX where the trailing XX is the # of feet for the cable. Assuming there is one, open the floor hatch behind the motor cover. You will see the steering cable. The number on the cable will most likely be there. You can then Google to find availability/best price.
