    Box anchor issues

Alright, before I start bashing this box anchor I purchased I'm going to see if anyone has tips on how to set the dang thing! I usually try to set it in about 8-15 ft of water in sandy conditions. It seems to me that when I throw it out it doesn't open ... It stays in its folded state ... Any tips?

If you install the cross bar support diagonally as shown in the picture it should retain its shape.

There should be a short metal arm with a 90-degree hook on the end that swings from its pivot point on one side of the anchor and slides into a short sleeve attached to the adjacent side of the anchor. This holds it into the open position.

Speaking of that picture, I've never understood the point of the stainless steel version. Other than looking cool when getting it out or stowing it (or to the fish that may happen to see it), is there a functional advantage?

I would assume in a salt water application it would last longer.

I kept losing mine every time I threw it in. Then someone told me I should attach a rope to it.

which achor do you have. I have to set mine locked to open before I throw it in.

Haha I just kept throwing it in thinking it would open on its own and of no such luck! Manual setting of anchor is never fun ...
