    Tower speakers

My question is I am installing a subwoofer in my boat and 4 tower speakers, I currently have a clarion xmd1 system. Do you recomend going with two amps or will one 4 channel work? Also what kind of amps are the best.
    Thanks

I would go with one five channel amp, or multiple amps. One amp will get too hot and shutdown on you. just my 2 cents

      Two Amps.
One for your speakers, and the other for sub. You will have different frequencies going to the speakers versus the sub. Today's amps have built in crossovers. This will keep the speakers from ripping themselves apart. Trying to push everything through one sub, will either give you poor bass, or poor mids and highs.

I have a four channel, for my speakers. Two for the boat speakers and two for the tower. This means I can fade from top to bottom. (Balance doesn't work) If I have a rider, I fade to the tower a little. If we are just sitting, and drinking beer, I fade to the boat a little more.

I then have a mono sub amp. (Both are Alpine) The sub amp is 350 Watts, and only cost $179.

One amp will work, if you are trying to push many speakers of the same "type."

If this doesn't make sence, let me know.
