It takes 8-10 minutes for us to switch sides but honestly it's just about the right amount of time. If I start dumping one side and filling the other as we are picking up the rider, it works out fairly well because by the time they get in the boat, take off their jacket, the other rider gets ready, etc, the other side is nearly ready.

@timmy I agree, we have always enjoyed our switch time. That was when we always jumped in the water and turned the boat into a $$$ diving board. The fast switch time was necessary for our event, and also very handy for demos and other such things, but really not a big need for most people, IMHO. Anything in the 10-15 minute range would be fine for us on casual surf days.

@moki The 2012 RZ4 was the first boat we were in without the walkthrough bow, and honestly, I thought I would hate it. There have only been a few times (like loading people in as you said) that I have thought I would have liked it better without. But 3 things...

      1. I can't think of a better place for the cooler, its just right there and so easy to always get to.

      2. You ever have your windshield tweak a bit especially during heavy chop the way the boat can flex? Sometimes I would go to close my window, and it would be off by as much as an inch. That is gone, the boat is SUPER solid in that area now, with that extra fiberglass and structure right where you need it.

      3. As long as your butt isn't too big, its a great seat to sit and watch the action and talk to the driver. Also a great place to put someone when I need a bit more bow weight, but dont want to banish someone all the way to the bow.

Overall, the bow issue for me on the Z3 is outweighed by the benefits of it. And the kids love it.

Its as roomy and more comfortable than the 24Ve, and dryer then the 24Ve, RZ2 or RZ4. The way the hull at the bow is shaped, it is very difficult to take in water, and we are always running around with 1000 lbs in the front. The Z3 makes the biggest rollers of any boat we have had, of course we know how to drive, deal with them, but there are always those times. This boat is the driest.

It is soooo deep, you can see in our pics, we have never got the rub rail closer than maybe 4-5 inches from the water. There is so much freeboard, its ridiculous.

Lastly, the boat seems so much more roomy than all 3 of those boats when surfing. Everyone we take out on a demo mentions it before I do. "Wow, you dont' have to all sit in the corner to make a wake." Sometime I drive, and even sit on the opposite side at 400 lbs. NO WAY on other boats. It requires so little list, and so people can almost be anywhere, and you just adjust the opposite bag from empty to about 50% to make up for it. This is the one feature that you don't really "feel" until you get in and surf with it, but my favorite. We are never cramped on one side and no one, even my skiddish wife is ever worried we are going to tip over with the list.

It may sound like a pitch, but I really do think its a game changer in the right direction. Get a good demo from someone who knows how to weight it or come down her for a day and ride with us and you can see for yourself.
