Rear platform seat on 06 22v

Hi all, first post for me, just finished doing an automated ballast install in my 06 22v and thanks to this site and member Dave K, everything is fantastic.

I have to say after putting about 30 hours on the boat since purchase this spring I only really have 2 major pet peeves with it.

Pet peeve #1 - No snap in carpet.

It's quite annoying that after every trip out it takes a full day to get the carpet dry, I was wondering if anyone has done their own version of snap carpet?

Pet peeve #2 - Steep angle above swim platform with no seat to sit on when putting on your board.
It would be really nice to use the existing holes in the back of the boat for the grab bar to mount some kind of aftermarket grab bar / seat above the platform.
    Has anyone tried doing that?

    Thanks

    John

I'm not aware of an aftermarket seat/step for the transom, but here is a thread about trying to build one: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...ab+handle+step

Thanks Dingleberry for posting my thread, I do have a step/seat for the grab bar with a custom SeaDek pad on top of it. I have been testing it on my boat all year before putting up for sale. I have been out on my boat atleast 7 times so far this year with all sizes of people using the step with no issues. My main concern is that without putting some sort of reinforcement on the inside of where the grab bar attaches to the fiberglass that it would tear up the fiberglass. I have not reinforced mine with no issues yet.

Here is a thread on a conversion to snap in. A local canvas shop did it for him. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14202

Thanks for all the info I guess I have some reading to do.

Since I do woodworking as a hobby (thankfully I don't rely on it as my main source of income ) I was thinking of possibly doing a teak seat/step that integrates with the grab bar, since I have the teak swim platform it would match and might look pretty good.

I'm gonna sketchup a design in the next couple of days and post the pics to see what you guys think.

GUY_RPM, do you have any pics of your seat mounted on the boat?

If you look thru the thread posted above you will find pictures of the step attached to the grab bar. I know that one person in the thread asked if I would sell the brackets only as he also thought it would look better with a teak step to match his teak deck. I can do that but I cant give you pricing on that yet as I do not have the quotes on only the brackets yet. My swim deck is teak also and as beautiful teak is I dont believe I want anything else teak on my boat because of the care required to keep it looking new.

Looks good, do you have any you want to sell?
Is it large enough to sit on while doing up your board?

Platform is 29" X 6" X 1" thick, I am stopping by the powder coater right now, might be able to get some together in the next couple weeks
