Hit me up with your thoughts and info on a Z1

I own a 2000 XStar which the wakes are absolutely perfect. I have tried to upgrade several times and each time on a demo I am left with an eh feeling. My upgrad over the fall was put on hold by 2 unexpected surgeries. I was looking at R20/RZR but space is now my number reason for an upgrade. I am willing I think to take a hit on the wakeboard wake finally if need be for more space. I need to stay 21ft due to a lake restriction it can be any combo as long as it has 21 in it. I really know nothing of the Z1 hull and my dealer has about same knowledge as this is their first yr carrying Tige and wakeboats take a back seat to their yachts. I read what I could and it seems to be the Tige boat for me.

My wife and I board 50%. Ski 25%and surf 25%. I ride with 3 k in my star and would say I am intermediate with about 5 inverts on lock and am happy not progressing any more as I need to stay healthy. Surfing is slowly coming into play more and more and I say wakeboarding will be dwindlling on my end and surfing picking up. I have been in all the new R model boats and was impressed with wakes. How does the Z1 fit in. How are the ski, board and GOOFY surf wakes? Also can this boat have a clean wake under 20 mph? This is one of my needs as with 2 young daughters who are starting to ride. Also can it be had without Tige touch or is the R20 the only boat without Tige touch?

I have narrowed it down to a new Z1, Used, new hull 07 up Nauti 210 , or new Moomba Lsv.

As always any info wake pics would be much appreciated. I plan on demoing for sure once I am fully healed

I would PM Iwndr and ask him, he is on vacation up in MT and I don't know when he will be checking TO. He loves his Z1. From what I hear the surf wave is awesome.

Can't recall the user name but a guy in Colorado got a Z1 last year and if I recall he mainly wakeboards and had pics of a great wake.

There are actually a number of Z1's in Colorado and I believe that all the owners love their boats.

For your Tige Touch question, are you looking for new or used? Used depending on the year you will not have it.

    Where about are you located?

I am looking new 2012 but if I have to go used to get it without I think I may do that. How long has z1 been around? I thought it was new? Forgive me. Getting educated

I know you mentioned the SAN, my buddy has a '06 and the surf wave is no where near what mine or the Z1 will produce. My brothers BIL has a '07 SAN and they don't surf it. I will be going in a week and will see if I can see the wave of the '07 SAN. Now the wakeboarding wake is good. I think you will find the Tige more versatile.

Demoing the boats will help you determine this. I would recommend trying to demo on the same day and the same lake. Water depth plays a role. As does the overall conditions of the water. If you test one in chop and one in glass the glass one will most likely demo better.

The surf wave on the 07 is much much better than the 06. New hull. It's steep has tons of push and is clean. Sure it's not a monter and the pocket is short but it's a 21 ft'r. In the 21 ft category it's one of my favorites. And that is in only 8-10 ft of water. It kills it in a deep lake. The biggest drawback on the SANTE is their seating configs for me. While super versatile for core riders with crews, They sacrifice a ton of storage to get you one of the best seating arrangements for rear facing action

The 08 Z1 wake-board wake is not in the same class as the CC210 wake-board wake, but on the flip side, the 210 surf wake will not touch a Z1. Im not sure if the 210 hull has changed since then, but I do not think it has. The Z1 has a capable wake-board wake, but it likes a LOT of bow weight. Its an easy boat to weight for surfing.

Since you are looking at a Z1, I would consider looking at the RZR also. I would love to get an RZR on the water for a few hours. Although its shorter and narrower, it seemed spacious due to the bow. The Z1 bow is small IMO. The boat narrows quickly and windshield seems far forward, lending more room for the main section.

For whatever it is worth the RZR is actually rated to hold more folks than the Z1. I wouldn't come close to the rating in either boat because it would get uncomfortable quickly. There are 2 Z1s on my lake and I see them surf, board and ski frequently so it must be a pretty good multi purpose boat.

Just picked upan 08 Z1 last fall. Came off a MC 190 ski boat. Big difference. Lovin it though. LOTS more room. Open bow is a little small, but big enuf for my 2 kids aged 14 and 11. Main seating area is quite spacious.
As for the wake. Im a skier and surfer. IMO ski wake isnt so good, but Im quite jaded from old boat. Still tweaking surf wake, but so far so good. Shorter, but longer than the X2's I usually surf behind. My kids can surf with just 300# sac in rear corner. They love the wake for wakeboarding/skating as well. TAPS makes it easy to make on the fly adjustments.
I dont have Tigetouch so cant give u any opinion. I do have the Tige speedset which is ok, IMO not as good as perfectpass.
Overall Im a happy new owner. Rides and looks great in the water. Missing some of the fine touches that MC and Nautique may have, but dont have to lay out the addl $$$$$ either.

If you load up the Zee with 3000 in the back you will have a hell of a wakeboard wake, I had 1250 in the port the other day and was cruising over to smooth water at 23 mph and even my Bu buddies were amazed at the wakeboard wake and ramp on the port side back there, How big is your crew? we usually have about 6 in the boat and have had a full crew of ten. I do not like to surf fully weighted with over 6 maybe 7 peeps in there, in fact I would rather have the smaller crew when we surf. You can ride two adults in the Bow or Three kids

I've Skied behind it but I would much rather use my Cousins Response, I bought it for surfing and thats about all I do anymore, I maybe take two or three wakeboarding sets a year anymore...
I believe you can still order a new Z1 without Tige Touch and I'm happy with the Tige Speed Set. Let me know if you want some more info, The best advice I can give you is to Try them all and pick out the one that suits you best. The Zee was the best choice for us between Bu and Tige And EVERYONE else in my Family has Malibus They all have Dodges too and I'm a Ford man
