It was seriously shocking. I couldn't believe how thin it felt. This was in '08 or so, well before the 247 was ever built so maybe they have addressed that situation.
I hope my tone didn't sound offended, it wasn't meant to be. I always enjoy your comments..(especially when you make fun of Nobody). There are problems on the Malibu discussion boards for sure, but the fiberglass giving way with minor trauma does not seem to be one of them. Sounds like the gelcoat is the only thing holding your friend's boat together...Yikes! The 247 started in 06, BTW.

Getting a little back to the OP's question, it matters what model you get. For example, the Malibu 23 LSV does not have the potential to surf like the 247. It is definitely surfable, but not as much as the 247.
        Be excellent to one another.

My boat came from and was serviced at Taylors. I got permission from the previous owner to get the service records from them. After going through the boat and the service records I would not take a boat to them.
I was going to use them when I first had my Tige and they were still a Tige dealer. I quickly change my mind when I heard their wait time and charges. That's when I learned to do almost everything from using this forum. Another Tige owner did not have a good experience either. I am just hoping for some stability in a dealership here.

It would be nice. I could be wrong but I don't think that very many of the dealers, any brand, have stayed extremely stable in Utah.

I agree with the dealership comment. Luckily we have Ragboy near us and for some reason he can get just about anybody to send him a boat to demo and try to sink with ballast He must have some really good game.

Agreed, I surfed behind a 2010 VLX, a 2008 VLX and My 08 Zee this past week, They were each running the Wedge down full and 400 in the lockers center ballast and front ballast full. very surfable waves but I found about 1-2' off the platform was the only place I had solid push. The 2010 had the better wake of the two Bu's though. On my Z1 I can ride about 5-8' off the platform and have a much steeper wake.
I run 400# up front and 1250# in the rear port locker and about 11.2 11.4 MPH Taps @ 4 on the port side.

Now if you weight the Bu's similar to the Z1 I think you will see a similar wake
We tried weighting up a 2000 23' sunscape and could not get anything out of it at all, It has a pretty funky step out on the transom that washes most anything out.
