Yes that is the low pressure fuel pump with the cooling coil around it. No that pump is not for idling or low speeds. That pump supplys fuel to the high pressure fuel pump at all times. The high pressure fuel pump is the one that supplys fuel to the engine at all times and all speeds. Make sense.
Now by the looks of things you need to start by checking all the electrical connections on the pumps and go from there. The connections on the low pressure pump are very susceptible to corrosion, wich you seem to have an abundance of! Really by the looks of things you really should get 2 new pumps..not going to be cheap..but yours are looking pretty bad and I have seen them leak fuel when they get as bad as yours. They look orignal and have served a good life they need to be changed IMPO.

The boat ran great while at high speed but anything close to idling it would shut down. We put a bypass pump in and were able to manually feed the fuel but now we are having a hard time tracking down the part to get.

Does anyone know what this fuel pump is? We are not able to see any serial numbers on it. We have a 2006 MP MPI 6.0

For the record this is the high press fuel pump/cell. There is a fuel filter in there along with the pump. Available from Marine Power.

Ok thanks for all the info. So it looks like the best option is to just replace both pumps. I was trying to narrow down which one might be responsible for it since it only happens at idle speeds. But if they are both responsible for delivery fuel all the time then that may be the best option.
