    Fuel Pump Issues

Hello! We had the boat our for 5 days this last weekend and ran into some issues with our low pressure fuel pump. The boat ran great while at high speed but anything close to idling it would shut down. We put a bypass pump in and were able to manually feed the fuel but now we are having a hard time tracking down the part to get.

Does anyone know what this fuel pump is? We are not able to see any serial numbers on it. We have a 2006 MP MPI 6.0

You may have cooked the pump. Looks like the cooling coil is missing. The coil would have been wrapped around the nasty looking part of the pump. Mine fell off (lame) and I zip tied it back up. Oh, and don't forget, when it falls off it knocks the power wire off -- not an easy thing to diagnose (for me at least). Hopefully I won't be in your situation any time soon. Good luck

Thats the high preassure pump from marine power, the low preassure pump with cooling coils is under that pump, they are available from marine power.

Ok, so the pump is still functioning just not powerful enough at idle speeds to provide enough fuel. Would that happen if it was missing the coil? And there is nothing underneath this pump so I am slightly confused about the low pressure vs. high pressure pump. Are you referring to the black part below the metal?

Follow the fuel line in the bilge from the tank and it will lead you to the low preassure pump which feeds the high preassure pump in the photo, normally its under that pump in the photo.

There should also be a small hose comeing off of the raw water pump, follow that hose and it should also lead you to the low pressure pump, which is cooled by this water hose, if you cant find it in close proximity to that pump then somebody has altered something.

Does anyone have a link to a diagram of the engine? I have looked all over and can't find the 6.0 model. That might help this all make sense to me. I was under the impression that the low and high pressure were both in the picture but based on what you all say it is located somewhere else.

Does anyone know what this is? Is this one of the pumps or filters? This was on the top of the engine

Ok, I think we found it. Is this the low pressure pump? And is the low pressure pump the one that delivers gas when idling or low speeds?

This is your fuel pressure regulator, 60 psi, the second picture is the low pressure fuel pump.

Looks to be a standard filter. Line in, line out and return line.

There are two fuel filters on the 6.0l , the one in your picture and the one in the fuel cell in your high preassure pump housing.

And no the low pressure pump is not for idle, the fuel cell is a mini fuel tank with the high pressure pump inside, the low pressure pump transfers fuel from the main tank to the cell, high pressure feeds the injectors.

This is one of the fuel filters.
