No perfect pass for my boat

I just learned that Perfect Pass doesn't have a kit for my boat (2006 24V, 340hp), which sounds odd.

With that said, what are you guys installing on boats/engines like mine? I bought it used and it doesn't have factory speed control. Additionally, I need need something to help me save my marriage.

    Thanks in advance

I have had the same question on this board multiple times. I have an '06 22v with the 340.

From what I remember, a zero off system might work. I don't remember the details so hopefully someone else will chime in.

the marine power wasn't compatible with Perfect pass and I doubt it is with zero off.

I think your best bet is the factory Tige Speedset that was offered those years. But I have no idea how to get one.

X 2. I have a friend I work with that has the same model year. His factory installed cruise keypad broke, so he looked high and low to get a different option. He fortunately, was able to get a replacement from the dealer. Tige hopefully has a few of them lying around. I would call your dealer first, then consider Tige direct. He hates how he cannot tell when it engages when the sun is shining on the keypad, since the only indicator is that the tiny (and I mean tiny) red light goes from blinking to steady.

I suspect 5 years from now we are going to have the same discussion about a boat with a bad Tige Touch display...but that is a whole 'nuther subject.

x3 I called perfect pass and they said Tige didnt give them permission to develop a perfect pass system. I couldnt quite believe that so I talked with Harvey at Tige and he said to call engine manufacturer. I went to engine manufacturer and they said call Tige. Do you see a pattern developing??

After 2 months of pictures phone calls back and forth to Marine Power and Tige, I was told by Harvey maybe there might be a critical part laying around (which isnt being made anymore).. that he could sell me. It had something to do with shifter??? I never heard back, got to frustrated with the BS run around.

And no I never got a perfect pass system.....

next step maybe sell the boat and go with something else.

Thanks for all the replies. I think there must be a disconnect between the dealers and PP. Two dealers I've talked to said installing a PP would be no problem. PP says we don't have a compatible kit.

              Don't know.

I'm going to call the dealer again this week and get the details on how they can install one without a compatible kit from PP. I expect they've found a way to customize the existing kit to work with the Marine Power?

One of the reasons why I bought this boat is because it didn't have cruise and I thought I could choose the one I wanted. Guess I should've done a little more homework.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

              Thanks,
              James

Perfect pass can be installed on virtually any boat with the exception of the Marine Power engines. That engine is throttle by wire and the perfect pass can't communicate with the ECM of the engine because it was never developed.

Everybody now a days us using TBW, but since MP was only used by Tige for a few years, the market is small. I guess this may be the force behind not doing a Marine Power compatible version. Also, most of the towboats with TBW use thier own speed control integrated into the LCD control center. Tige Touch, Malaview, MC, CC, Supra, etc. Dunno, just a thought.

PP doesnt even offer paddle-wheel speed based any more, except by special request they will build it.

                    Hey guys,

Marine Power uses a MEPHI-4 ECM. This is the same ECM that is used on most MasterCraft boats from 2005. Perfectpass is compatible with the MEPHI-4 ECM and have no problems controlling a 2005 MasterCraft boats.

The Marine Power engines, for some odd reason, do not work well with cruise control system. These odd problems were never solved by Marine Power. As a result, Perfectpass decided that supporting these engine was not worth it due to performance issues.

                    Hope that help!

Soooo....can perfect pass be installed on current generation raptor motors? That will make me a lot more comfortable. My touchpad is already crapping out (2016). Nothing like wakeboarding a kid and all of a sudden realizing you are at 26mph and accelerating to 30. I will get it replaced this winter but I'm not holding my breath that it will be working in 10 yrs.

Either way, thank you Perfect Pass for letting us know. The '06 Marine Power MEFI4 is the odd one out.

I wonder if a guy would be able to talk to Marine Power and see what it would take to upgrade to MEFI 5. Assume module and harness, maybe some sensors. Couldn't imagine theres a ton more inputs between mefi4 and mefi 5 marine power 340.
