Anyone had their TAPS readout shift relative to the plate's actual position?

I've noticed something interesting so far in this early season. Last season (the boat's first) we generally got the cleanest surf wave at TAPS 4. This season, it's at TAPS 2. TAPS 1 and 3 are obviously worse; the cleanest is solidly centered on 2.

I haven't changed anything on the boat. Same sacs, same locations, same pumps, same people, even the same lake. But now if I set TAPS to 4 the wave is frothy and trashy... drop it to 2 and it's smooth and beautiful again.

The plate moves properly through a complete range. Any chance the readout has shifted? I don't know how the display "knows" where the plate is. I presume there's some sort of sending unit. Can it be (mis)adjusted?

Any difference in water depth where you surfed this season and last?

Also could be the bag might have shifted slightly in the locker, but there is a position sender to the display and it should be adjustable. Have you tried running taps plate full up (8) and back down to the desired setting? When it reads 8 is it fully up or is there a little travel to go until it is fully up and reads fully up?

Not sure why water depth would affect it...?

I've played with sac position, doesn't seem to have any effect.

I haven't yet checked plate travel or slack. Soon.

Water depth affects wake shape and size.

Oh, I see what he's asking. I thought he was suggesting the TAPS readout would change based on water depth.

Nope, same lake property as last season. Marginally higher water, but we're talking a change of a couple of feet in a 40-70 foot deep lake, not enough of a change to affect the wake.

I accept that, but since my lake is over 40 feet deep in most places I don't think that's the issue in this case.

I have wondered the same thing how does the taps gauge no the position of the plate? I have looked around the ram and plate and have yet to find any kind of sensor

Just curious - have you checked the fluid level? No idea if that could cause this, but may be worth checking on it.

I dont thank the wave will change untill you get below 10-12 foot of water. I surf on a lake that is 8-20 foot deep, and i see very little change from 10ft of water to 20ft of water.

The position sensor is built into the ram.

Prop change? Is the water flatter? I noticed both have an effect.
