Is it just me or should we not be asking what’s the best boat but the best dealership to buy a boat from? About a year ago we got our boat and we had no clue what we were in store for. I made some complaints on this forum that didn’t make some people happy. No complaints now. I realized real fast that things go wrong with boats and as long as it gets fixed don’t sweet it. Here is why I bring this up – I have never had anything good to say about the place where we brought our boat from. The only reason I ever take it there is for warranty issues. I normally take it to a Nautique dealer because they work on PCM engines and after working with them I really wish they also sold Tiges.

Dealer support should certainly be one of the most important factors when purchasing a boat. We already had a relationship with the local Malibu dealer but ended up going with the Tige. One of the main reasons was we felt like the folks at WWS especially Nick went above and beyond our expectations frequently. The level f service has continued since we took delivery.

Correct answer. There are some aspects of each boat that are good and bad, but a dealer experience magnifies those issues 1,000 fold. Whenever I see those threads of brand X vs. brand Y, I always tell people to consider the dealer as a huge portion of that equation. Tige flops in areas where the dealer is not so great and flies in areas where the dealer gives good service. I don't think that Tige has not done well in Salt Lake City because the boats that are sold there are inferior to the ones sold in Denver. Unfortunately, SLC has Mastercraft and Malibu dealers that have very strong reputations, and Tige has yet to find a dealer that can compete with them.Be excellent to one another.

there is only one part that i dont get to your post.. how are the boats sold in slc inferior to the ones in denver? dont they come off the same factory floor? or was mine made in china and is a knock off?
hmm.. interesting. just happened to visit the SLC dealer this weekend. I guess what is considered doing good? I asked, they have sold 8 or so Tiges this year. Not bad for a 2nd year dealer in my mind. In this market. I think also in this market... meaning boats over 70k those two names are hard to compete with and those dealers have flip flopped around as well. My opinion is the people around here "think" those are the boat to have and be "seen" in. It makes them feel special. how do I derive this. easy I see them at the ramp and on the lake. Generally in the way acting as though they are special and can pretty much just park it where they feel good or bad.
so my take they dont really look at the dealer its what they precieve as the boat to have. Are there things I think the slc dealer can improve on yes. But at the same time its hard for me to complain since my service and support has been beyond great.2011 Tigé RZ4

Agreed x100
Even the best boats are just problems waiting to happen. You need a dealer you can trust to help sort out the issues in and out of warranty.
The TO board is a great resource -- just search the name of the dealer you are interested in. All sorts of stuff, good and bad, should pop up.
For the record, State-a-Mind in StL has been awesome from day one and has continued that pattern over the last 3.5 seasons.

gcombe - I don't think that talltigeguy is bashing the current SLC dealer. I take his post to mean that, because Tige has gone through several different dealers in a few years in that area (for whatever reasons), there hasn't been one that has established itself enough to earn that solid reputation for service. Whereas the Bu and MC dealers have been around for a while and have strong reputations.
I think we all hope that the current SLC dealer does well, provides good service, and over time will earn a great reputation.
Here in Vegas there was a Tige dealer for many years that was generally well regarded. After he sold the dealership, things weren't the same and they seem to have disappeared. Now, a new dealer is starting up and hopefully they build a great reputation and loyal following. But it takes time and good service/word of mouth.

I don't even know who the Tige dealer in SLC is right now. It went through so many in the last 6 years I cannot keep track. I do hope for their success, so it is definitely not meant to be bashing the current dealer. But they have no reputation...I frequent this board nearly every day and I do not even know who they are.
To say that the only reason Malibu and MC owners bought their boats is to be cooler than other people is a gross oversimplification. I am glad that you have gotten good service from your dealer, but a lack of track record might scare others away. I dealt with Utah Water Sports (MC dealer) and I found them to be very good. And the reason Nautique does not do so well seems to be a reflection of the negative feedback I hear on the internet about the dealer.Be excellent to one another.

I think the reason people perceive Mastercraft and Correct Craft as well as Malibu owners to be snobbish is the reception they get when they are in the same area [dock] or in conversation with those owners. Not all MC,CC and Bu owners are like that. But i would say 60 to 65% are like that. Most of the owners of those brands i know are NOT like that at all.But that is why i know them ,they are just friendly boat owners who happen to own a different brand.I feel CC,Malibu, Mastercraft ,Tige and Supra all make quality boats. I don't personally know any Centurion owners but hear they are well made also..Moomba,Axis,MB and Epic also make good boats for the money. I agree the dealer can make all the difference in the world in ownership. My experience is all the dealers i've met are your best friend when your buying a boat, after you own the boat is when you find the true measure of their "service" after the sale.I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

The people I know in SLC dont usually talk to big about tige. Its all mastercraft and Malibu. That is super annoying. The people who research tige find that they are a sweet boat. I cant wait for a sweet Tige dealership to come to SLC. Marine Products in Salt Lake needs to drop Moomba, axis and bring in Tige. I would shop there all the time just to see the new Tige's
