    Only in the Sierra's

Had a bit of fun this weekend from mountain top to surfing on the lake all within a short distance from the house. Only in the Sierra's.

That is down off of tioga pass and saddlebag lake rd and lakes basin. That's north peak in the background. We dropped in at about 11,700ft and rode right to the lake. Kind of a nice place huh. Lol.

Did you get some good corn in that run? OR was it pretty much ice to slush? How far of a hike was it from you car before you could put your skins on?

Didn't really corn up that day. We had alot of wind and held off a bit to let it warm up. It was nice and soft though and not to slushy. It was about a 3 to 4 hour hike, we were able to dry hike the hole way. Didn't need skins or even crampons. Not much snow left, we were there in july last year and had to skin the whole way big difference in the two seasons. Yep love the views out there.

Well if the wind wasn't blowing so hard and it were a little warmer I may have checked. LOL. I was thinking about a pond skim though. Usually body numbing cold at thoses elevations. On the surfing lake 65.

The best thing about 65* water, Nobody gets hypothermia in it.

NOOOOOO-BODY from FL is going to jump into 65F water. That is frigid cold. Right now our water is 85F and it's Perfect. Was on Douglas Lake last weekend and that water was 85F too.
