    Does FAE Affect Surf Wake?

Taking the boat in next Sunday to hopefully get most of my issues taken care of. I will have to leave it for 2 weeks so I am contemplating doing a few "extras".

    1. Does a Fresh Air Exhaust affect the surf wake at all? I have seen some people that have put mud flaps on their swim platform and each time it looked like they had an FAE.

    2. From the pictures it looks like it may project quite a bit and be easy for somebody to cut their foot or leg on while getting into the boat from the swim platform. Is this a concern?

    Thanks,

    Austin

We have 07 22Ve and no issues. We really like it-much quieter and safer. Ours does not stick out that far and unless somebody really gets way underneath or deliberately tries to kick the back of the boat then not an issue. We have not detected any wake surf impact and have good comparison w ST68's boat which is same hull but no FAE.with no obvious difference. FAE has slightly changed trimming the boat when running above 15 MPH but not been a problem.....I merely adjusted and we zip along.

We also get a little plume on our 09 RZ2.

I have never noticed it interfering with getting up on the platform.

We have never had an issue with our FAE on the 24Ve, many hours of use. Only needs to be tightened on rare occasion. That said, on the 2012 with the CAT motor, I don't think you need it, the boat is already very quiet, and extremely clean.

If you get hurt by the FAE protuding from the back of the boat, your probably going to get hurt no matter what. If your legs hit the bottom of the FAE then I wouldn't be surprise if those same legs hit the TAPS plate either.

It causes a little bit of a "rooster tail" but nothing that really affects the surf wave for the most part.

Excellent results on noise reduction!! First night we owned our boat it was put on. Thanks to all the guys on this forum and Larry for turning our family on to this Noise Canecelling Device!!!

I bought one from Larry for my old nautique and besides eliminating gross v8 exhaust from coming into the back seat, it muffled the engine exhaust note appreciably. We do get a little rooster tail when wakeboarding, right at the end of the platform but it doesn't affect the wakeboard or the surf wake shape at all. I'll never go surfing again without a FAE. Awesome product.
