As long as we are not loading down the amp's chnls with a load thats too low and we are not grossly under powering the speakers, then its not an issue.

Nobody , you can get anybody you want to chime in, but its not going to change what I said back in July 2012.
There are a lot of factors involved in creating a high output system , but you can't change basic ohm's law, and power in and power out ratio, with out getting to involved, here are the basics.

      A: Decibel (dB)
      (1) a logarithmic scale used to denote a change in the relative strength of an electric signal or acoustic wave. It is a standard unit for expressing the ratio between power and power level. Using the logarithmic relationship for power PdB = 10*log[Pout/Pin] , a doubling of electrical power only yields an increase of +3 dB. Increasing the power tenfold will yield an increase of +10 dB and is a doubling of perceived loudness. The decibel is not an absolute measurement, but indicates the relationship or ratio between two signal levels.

      (2) SPL (sound pressure level) can be measured in dB. 0 dB represents the threshold of normal human hearing, 130 dB represents the threshold for pain, 140 dB causes irreparable hearing damage, and 150 dB can cause instant deafness, anything greater than about 192 dB can kill you.

So again going from a 90 watt rated speaker to a 160 watt rated speaker provided you are driving each speaker to its rated value, is only going to yield about another 2 1/2 decibels. My boat produces 117 decibels at about 3/4 volume via ten jbl mark 2 component speakers rated at 150 rms.

You forgot the exponential law of "more is better" and it's cousin "bigger is better". Thus, more speakers, and bigger amps equals increased SPL & db. The net result is happiness @ 130 db.

I think this is an over-looked aspect of most any hobby. Do my home stereo tweaks and several costly turntable needles/carts make THAT much of difference? Probably not. Does it make me happy to tweak and try new stuff? Heck yeah.

So long as you are not spending discretionary money you don't have, the happy factor is a big part of the hobby.

LOL, you are right, let me know when you get to 130 DB's of happiness.
