Summer is back, and diesel is cheaper than regular gasoline again...

As I recall, some people here didn't believe that diesel could get cheaper than regular gasoline. It happens most years here in the Pacific Northwest, as east coast demands for heating oil finally dwindle away and demand goes up for gasoline to fuel road trips and boats.

Just to reassure everyone, here's the station nearest me:

Diesel is cheaper than REGULAR gas, not to mention the higher grades. Here's another nearby station:

Sorry about the glare, I took the photo while driving and just caught the glare right when I clicked the button. If you look carefully, you can see that regular and diesel are the same price - $3.79 per gallon.

This time of year my Cummins powered truck benefits not only from incredibly high mileage (~25 MPG in mixed mode driving) but also from the same or cheaper per-gallon fuel costs. Let the summertime price wars begin!

I paid 3.12/gal near Hilton Head SC other day.

Yea....the west coast is getting screwed over with gas prices this spring/summer. Gas should be $2.75 a gal based on $82/$85 per barrel. Doubt we'll ever see oil drop below $80 because that would put a squeeze on shale oil coming for Canada. Shale helps us loosen the grip on OPEC's squeeze.

Diesel is still $.30-.$50 higher than regular here in the southern Midwest. I'm finally pulling away from Diesel and going back to gas.

When I bought my diesel Excursion back in 05, diesel was cheaper than regular. About 2 months later, it became more expensive and has never been cheaper since. But I still am happy to pay the extra for the torque.

That's how it was when I made the original swap to diesel as well. Then all the emissions crap started killing the mileage advantage most diesel's were enjoying as well.

I'm going to a Supercharged Tundra to try and offset some of the torque disadvantage. Hoping the weight difference will make up for it.

My truck gets the best mileage of any vehicle we've ever owned. That includes sedans, minivans, and an SUV. Plus it has higher carrying capacity and higher towing capacity than anything too. Even when diesel is more expensive than gasoline, I'm financially ahead. During those portions of the year when diesel is cheaper, I'm WAY ahead.

Since I have the Ford with the 6.0, my chipping options are severely limited. So my mileage is not that great either, around 15 around town and 17 on the highway.

It is still too bad someone won't come out with an 8 passenger Diesel SUV.

maybe in terms of canned tunes, but those are horrible anyways. Lots of custom tuners available for the 6.0.....hop on powerstroke.org and ask around, you'll be surprised!

They used too, they made the excursion with the 7.3L! I think they made it briefly with the 6.0L as well.

I payed 3.50 in AZ the other day for diesel. 3.75 for regular! Back to how it should be! Especially since diesel comes from the refining process of gas, granted they need to take some sulfur out so its "#2" but come on, and the supply demand thing matters i guess

I paid $3.53 the other day for diesel and regular gas was $3.65. Just hope it stays that way for a few years.
