    buying used 2002 FSLM

I am considering this boat with 580 hours.
1)Anything I should look for during the checkout?
    2)Is $12,000 about right?
3)It is in fair/good condition with a new eldenbrook carburator. 5.7L mecrcruiser
    4) Will it hold its value?
    5) Are the floor/stringers fibergalss?
    6) Is this a good wake for skiing?
    7) What fuel economy can I expect?

We have a 1994 FSLM. The diehard skiers in our group love the wake.(Novice to crazy full throttle guys) Not much for the boarders though, small wake, boat is hard to weight down without water coming in.

I don't think they made the FSLM in 2002.

          Looks older than a 2002.

I have been part of the Tige family since 2001 and agree with Team Allen. Doubt that is a 2002.
          Be excellent to one another.

2002 is part of the model name not the build year.

Thanks lee! I forgot the 2002 part of the FSLM. That should give you one of the best wakes for skiing on the water. The floor stringers and floor are wood, layered in a ton of fiberglass. How is the interior? Ask for maintanence records. How's the trailer? Take it for a run on the water for sure!

                  tedt ride results

                  took it for a ride.

a lot of water is getting in the boat (1/2 gallon per minute or so) . cant tell where from. front stabilizer fin on boat bottom has silicone around it like they were trying to fix a leak.

temp gage stays pegged at low except for a couple of times when it raised quick to mid way then back down to pegged at minimum.

a little blow in the engine.by when the oil filler cap is removed, about as much smoke as a cigarette. warn oil pressure = ~30 psi..cold about 50-60 psi.

top speed =40 at WOT (4000 rpm)

                  what do you all think?

Could need a new shaft packing being an older model.

Oil pressure sounds like it is ok.

Should turn around 4500 rpms on a engine with a carb Mercury. Could have the wrong pitched prop on it.

                      test ride

thanks lee..this is my first inboard although Ive skiied most of my life.

could that front fin on the bottom be leaking? How much to replace the packing if thats what it is?

It has a new edelbrock 750 cfm. Since the rpm (4000) matchs the speed (40 mph) isnt that called a 1:1 setup? since rpm/speed match Dosn't that mean the prop pitch is correct?

What do you think about tha temperature gage. I assume the thermostat is stuck open but that doesnt explain the wierd spikes.

I am buying from a consignment shop so they are going to try and figure it out.

1/2 gal a minute leak, engine temp spikes. I vote for checking engine cooling system hose, cracked block, missing block plug......

Shaft packing is not too hard to do should be around $50 for a inline. Front fin could be leaking, could tell by lifting the engine box and looking by the pylon mount on the floor to see if water was coming in.

The engine can turn between 4400-4600 rpms. Something is stopping it. Might need a tune-up.

Could be a bad gage or sending unit. The actual temperature cannot not move real fast and if the gage is jumping fast should be something else.
