    2012 Tige RZ2 Delivered Today-Help Electrical Problems

Boat runs great. Stereo emits a high pitched squeal with frequent popping ang cracking but only when the engine is on or any accessory is turned on. Happens no matter what source and even when muted, only way to stop it is to shut off audio power. Sounds fine in accessory mode but does have occasional crackle. Dealer says was water tested yesterday and everything worked fine. Boat has EIDB, Stereo pack 3 with Tower of power wired with 2 Rev 8s, Syn 6 and Syn 2. I checked the battery grounds, all RCA cables, and looked for loose connections behind dash panel with no luck. The fuse box has a small red flashing light inside on the left side. Also, the touch screen flags a lot of split second flashes and continuous fine but barely noticeable "static" in the form of waviness on the screen. Any thought? It will be a huge hassle if I can't figure it out as I have no dealer close. I think it is a loose connection or ground after the 900 mile trailer but I can't find it. Thanks!

I agree it sounds like a ground issue. If you have access to an oscilloscope, take a look at the ground near the equipment with reference to one of the heavy ground cables that come straight from the batteries. I'll bet you see noise.

I put a ground loop isolation cable from head to tower amp which has made it usable but not great. Will get 2 more and connect to the main amp. Tige has been very helpful and talked me through a few items I still need to check but I've been to busy trying to dial the wave in and surfing. By the way the Touch is nice but the iPod music interface SUCKS!

His first post suggests it may be a 900 mile drive to the dealer. I'd put in some pretty strong personal effort to avoid an 1800 mile round trip!

Next time out, put the battery switch in the "Combine" position. This puts the entire boat on the same battery source as both batteries become one. Let us know.

Buy a 80K car and you'll get a gold plated loaner delivered to you.
Buy a 80K boat and you get the shaft.

At least its not just Tige sending out headaches, all the other boat mfg's do it to. Including Intrepid and Lazzara.

One bad expereance reachs average of ten people. One good averages a few! Broken towers n rattles n speaker pops, none working leaking ballast, engine issues....

I have a useable radio at mid to high volume with 2 ground loop isolations. I just can't hit pause or mute because of the continuous whining and static. I have no reason not to give the dealer and Tige a chance to make it right, stuff happens. I haven't had a chance to replace any of the monster RCA cables yet, Eddie at Tige said the Touch issue sounds normal but to check the video cable which I haven't done yet. Can anyone tell me if it is normal for the low battery voltage warning to come on in ACC mode? There is a data loss warning as well but it says to ignore this if in accessory mode. How do you get the head unit to recognize the under dash USB? All and all I love the boat and I am sure all the bugs will get fixed. What pisses me off the most is that my 10 year old can free ride forever and I can't even with the monster wave the boat makes. I grew up surfing and was even sponsored by a local surf shop but can't free ride more than 50 yards or so. I'm blaming the board.

There is one USB under the helm that is for the Medallion system and not an audio interface.
