    Adding Sirus/XM?

I have a Sirus/XM radio in my truck and an account. What do I need to buy to get it working on the boat. Clarion HU XM compatible in the Z3...

    Thanks!

I would just buy another new boat that has XM already installed.

That was an option I was considering, but since I only have 40 hours on the Z3 I am not quite ready to get rid of it...

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is call Sirius/XM and just add the boat radio onto your account.

I did what John_S said, but our radio was Sirius ready. If yours is not XM ready, buy an after market mount, use your existing head (if it's portable) and plug it into the aux input of the boat stereo.

If you ordered your Z3 with the SAT receiver/antenna option installed form the factory, then all you need to do is push the SAT button on the head-unit, wright down the SID# and call Sirius/Xm and add it to your account. Will take anywhere from 60 seconds to 15 minutes for it to initiate.

If you Z3 doesnt have the SAT receiver/antenna, then you need to purchase one, along with the correct Clarion interface cable and install it. Once installed, then make the call with the SID#.

Since Sirius and XM have merged, you get the same stations and can smewhat custom choose your chnl package IIRC.

You have to get the box and antenna first.

if you do have to install an antenna, this is the one that i have used on 2 boats now. it works with my old sirius receiver as well as my new xm lynx: http://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-SR...marine+antenna

btw - anyone gone from sirius to xm? i made the switch recently and the sound quality on xm sounds like crap quality internet radio in comparison...

Thats interesting. I did a Sony head-unit with XM a few months back and didnt notice any sound quality issues. Im in the middle of a Clarion with Sirius to Alpine w/XM install. I'll take a good listen and see if I notice anything.
