I have had 2 Malibu's, and my last was a 2008 VLX. The 2008 VLX is a great boat for wakeboarding, and not so much for surfing. Well it did surf okay, but the 2008 was very hard to dial in the surf wake (moving 1 person in the boat could make the surf wave un-ride-able. In 2009 the VLX got a hull change that matches up with the 23LSV hull.(2008VLX 98" beam, 2009VLX 102" beam) that made the boat more stable, but harder to sink. My 2008 VLX has been my fav wakeboard wake, and the easiest to make big! That said, due to knee, and back problems i got a boat that surf's well, and wakeboards okay the 2011 "RZ2". I have only wakeboarded twice behind the my RZ2. After having the boat for 8-9 months i had to teach my crew to wakeboard faster to clean up the wake. The wake on the RZ2 at 21.5 and Taps at 3 its clean ferm, and steep, and sometime unpredictable for someone who is used to a melow wake. I hope this help. It your set on a malibu that will do both good you will need to get an 23LSV. IMO Tige builds a better boat, but i would have never said that untill i owened one! Good luck!

Congratulations Gator. Looking forward to hearing about your purchase and 23LSV comparison.

I never put the LSV in the water because the wasn't family friendly enough for us compared to the pickle fork so I compared it to the MXZ.

Congrats! That hardly seems "used"... 2.5 hours sounds like the on-water test at the factory!

Post photos as soon as you can, we love to live vicariously through other people's purchases. Welcome to the family!

One thing to note on the older Rz2's -- the cooler location isn't ideal. I actually ripped mine out to fill the entire locker with ballast. I have always used a soft sided cooler that is actually "cooler." I pack it before I go and put it in the locker under the glove box. I like not having to empty the drinks and such into the boat cooler anyway. There has been some debate about the coolers in the new tiges -- I started one debate: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...ghlight=cooler

Check it out. Generally, the rz2 doesn't really need that much weight in the front to have a good surf wake (few hundred pounds on the surf side) The z3 on the other hand, needs about 1000lbs. So, the with the new Rz2, you lose the floor in the bow, but gain the better locker space in the rear. In the end, the cooler shouldn't be a deal breaker or deal maker. Every boat is good and bad. Just buy what you like best.

It's my understanding that the factory does not do on-water test.
