Auto Bilge Pump?

Just wondering, how much water will the boat hold before the float activates in the bilge?

The pump may need to be a couple of inches under water before the pump kicks on.

Since this is a Tige owner's forum...I will point out that the geniuses that built my 06 Mastercraft connected the bilge to the regular power. That way, when you shut off the batteries, the bilge pump has no power. I am not sure if they fixed it on the later models, but at least since 02 (my first Tige) Tige has put a bilge pump straight to the battery so that no matter what happens, the bilge gets water pumped out.

Who the heck knows what happened to this guy: I love this picture...but for sure his bilge pump would have saved a ton of hardship.

Most likely he left the drain plug in while the boat was in storage, with no battery. A few weeks/months of rain with no way out and you'll get exactly these results!

Sunk on trailer. Heard of it, now I've seen it. Holy toledo, that boat is toasty. It would be amazing if that thing was resurrected from it's despair. Next time I'm parking my boat in the yard, I'll have that photo emblazoned on my brain. Never leave the drain plug in, never leave the plug in, never leave the plug in....

Actually I meant to say, what was that guy thinking? He had a thread on here about how to fix his boat, but then disappeared. IIRC, he had the boat at a friend's car dealership, and they conveniently parked it next to the roof runoff. So all of the roof runoff ran down into the boat. The battery either died after pumping water out over the entire winter, or he did not have it in at that time.

I have heard (but never actually seen good proof) of guys getting mice in the boat through the drain plug, but I can't think of any good reason to leave the plug in when the boat is on land. Once it becomes your habit at the boat ramp, then you always remember to put it back in...well almost always...until someone disrupts your launch rhythm...like Bad05 did to me. And of course both of my X45 bilge pumps decided to fail at that time. Luckily, I did not sink the boat.

Funny you mention that....I was doing an install on an 08 X80 today. The forward bilge pump is shorted out and the ski locker is filled to the top with water. Another good hard rain and its over the top.
