    Piggyback Ballast

Is it possible to piggyback additional sacs in the rear of my boat using the same pumps? I know there are solutions for replacing the surf bags in the RZ series but it just seems like too much money. I also like that the factory bag can tuck into the side.

I'm asking to find a way to get more ballast in the rear for surfing. We use the storage under the seats quite a bit but it would not be too bad to move stuff around when we are ready to surf (usually at the end of the day). I'm thinking it would be nice to piggyback a 500lb sac onto the factory rear bags with a manual valve on the fill and drain as we would only be using it for surfing.

    Any thoughts?

Come on, someone has to know if this is possible. It seems logical.

I replied to your PM, but I think what you are asking here is different. Am I reading correctly that you are looking at piggy-backing a sac onto the current in-floor hard tank and surf sac system? If so, I would not suggest it. Too problematic IMO. Either manually fill a sac under the seat when you want the added weight, or give it its own dedicated plumbing/pump. You could do a reversible pump fairly easy by T'ing off a current thru-hull, so no added holes in the bottom.

Yeah, I guess the more I thought about it, it seemed logical to be able to simply T off of the factory pumps and put a manual valve in line on the extra bag. I figured I could keep the manual valve closed until we are ready to surf, then open the valve and manually fill the ballast on the Tige Touch.

I guess at this point with as much as I've spent on everything else, I'm just being cheap. I've seen some rectangular 400-600lb bags for a little over $100.

Sounds like Piggy Backing off a stereo amp to run another set of speakers.
