HELP!!! 2007 RZ2

I just bought a 07' RZ2 and could not be more excited. I bought it as a repo and it is need of some tlc, nothing major but was not cosmetically cared for. Has low hours and runs great but I have a couple of questions-
First, none of my accessory switches, lights, blower ect... On the dash work UNLESS the boat is running. Key on but if the boat is not running, dead. Turn the engine on, all works great. I'm wondering if there is a primary or cranking battery and then an accessory battery and it is hooked up wrong. Any thoughts would be great.

Second questions, it is equipped with TAPS2, the switch on the throttle does nothing at all. Is there any thoughts on a component to check first, a way to diagnose or troubleshoot? Again, I would really appreciate ANY thoughts.

If the boat has the Tige EIDB dual battery option, odds are, the house battery is just dead, but may not be connected. If you reach into the port (left) rear storage locker and pull the access door out of the back wall, you will find the battery(s). If two are there, the one closest to the engine is typically the house. But you can trace the large red battery cable from the switch back to the battery..THAT battery would be the starting.

Also, look under the helm at the breaker box. There are two white switches, make sure they are both on.

Bare with on this, but how did you determine the TAPS switch on the throttle isnt doing anything? If the house battery is dead, it probably not function with engine off. The motor is not very loud and the plate doesnt move a lot either. Just want to confirm theres a problem, then we can get you going in the right direction.

Of course I agree with his suggestion. I want to add a few things to be prepared for. If the boat has sat for a while, you may want to get some fresh gas into the tank - You might even siphon the old gas into your vehicle mixed with fresh gas in there to dispose of it.

An oil change and fuel filter replacement is probably in order as well as installing a new impeller.

I haven't had a chance to dig into the batteries, I will take a look and let you know what I find. Regarding TAPS... There is an indicator gauge on the dash that never moves as I click the switch. I thought maybe it was just the gauge so I checked the plate and it does not move at all. In reading a thread about move the switch to the dash a couple of people mentioned shorts in the the switch. Is this an avenue to persue?

I agree with the recommendation on the fuel filter and fresh gasoline, and would go a step further and do a full winterization-style service on the engine. Oil + filter, both fuel filters (inline and FCC), transmission fluid, lube spots, everything. If the boat wasn't cared for on the outside, it might not have been cared for on the inside either.

Run some injector cleaner too. I know you say it runs fine, but maybe it could run even finer!

I'd pull both batteries and have them load tested. They might just need a good, solid charging. Better to find out at your convenience than in the middle of the lake.

Taps is powered off the house battery. It sounds like that battery is dead.

Ok, so I have the batteries pulled and am going to run them in and have them checked. I've never hoped for bad batteries so much in my life. I'll be traveling for work the first part of the week and will post an update as soon as I get back. I'll post some pics as well! Thank you so much for all your help, so far....!!

As an update, I have replaced the house battery that was dead and now have all of my lights, blower, ect working. Thanks for the direction!! Unfortunatly, the TAPS does not move at all.....I was very bummed to see that given all of the other concerns that were resolved with the bad battery. What are your suggestions in starting to track down a solution?

Taps, it has a plug. Make sure it's plugged in. It's about 1' from the pump. Check for power at the pump with a probe. I don't know which wire would be the positive. I also believe it's a polarity reversing switch. So depending on up or down, the line could be negative or positive. Check by holding the switch up and down. From there, I have no idea. Good luck. I have heard a lot about people's switches on the throttle shorting out. I am not looking forward to that -- my throttle has a very expensive label on it -- "tige".
