    Alpha Z Tower Light Bulbs

I asked in another thread but I'm hoping this title will help get an answer. Can someone verify the bulb type (MR11, MR16, etc) and wattage of the factory bulb in the integrated Alpha Z tower lights please?

I prob won't get my boat back until next week but I want to try to replace the stock bulbs with a higher output and whiter LED bulb.

Can someone verify the type of bulb that's in the tower lights?

FYI, it is a 20W MR16ESX. I emailed Harvey earlier today and he replied almost immediately. I'm going tomorrow to try and find some brighter, maybe 5k LED replacement bulbs. I'll report back if I get them to work.

You need more light on it

The tower lights definitely need to be brighter! Plus with as white as the Rev10 LED rings are, I'm gonna start replacing all the lighting with a cooler white LED to match.

I just stopped at a local lighting distributor and picked up a couple 6K 3W MR16 LEDs that are a narrow flood. We won't discuss what that cost but they were definitely more than buying them online but at least I was able to talk to someone about the application. I'm hoping to get a chance to put them in tonight. I'll post pics when I finish.

Wow! What a dramatic difference! I'll get some pics this weekend of the lights when it is dark. I'm not real sure why these don't come installed from the factory.

Obviously, the one on the left is the LED and the right is the factory bulb.

So, now that we see and like it, where did you get them and how much?

I got them at Light Bulb Depot on I-10. After researching a little, I think I may order these instead:

                      http://www.dinodirect.com/spotlight-...-mr16-led.html

They are pretty much the same price and even though they are deeper. These should be a lot brighter being 5W.

Saturday night we ended up taking about 10 friends down to the river to another friend's house for a party and even though it was not ideal lighting, these lights made the 30min ride @ 10-12mph so much better. Lots of sections on the river are not lit at all and without any moonlight, it was pitch black at times.

By the way, what is the law for driving at night in terms of speed and light? I had the Tower lights on, Nav light (flipped up), Docking lights (which helped illuminate the shore line a little better) and most of the time, the Courtesy lights (which is also where I have the Rev10 LED's wired in).

Anyone else get LEDs for the their Tower? If so, which brand you go with?

I picked up a set but I didn't know the mount was designed for the head of bulb to slide in. The bulbs I got are to thick.

What the trade # on the bulb, as in 1157, 97, 9004 headlamp, etc? with this trade #, you can find what should be the correct LED version of that same trade #.

                            It's a low voltage type MR16.

I went with a CREE MR16LED 5W but as you can tell from the picture the metal rim around the head is to thick compared to the oem one. I had no idea it slides into grooves. I'm thinking of widening the gap to allow them to press through.
