My 22v wave dialing in project swim deck mod

Ok so I have finished up cutting my swim deck and mounted my FAE flap. I'm using Duffy's design as his is working well for him. Im going to start with two 30x24 flaps and see how it works.

Taps is usually between 2.5-4. Kind of depends on the crew size and rider.

Does your pocket change much when you change your Taps Duffy or does it just change the shape?

well my set up is deffinitly different. I can't really move my Taps at from all the way out (which is below 1 on the gauge) or to 1. If I go any higher the wave gets taller but the pocket gets very short. I'm just going to keep on testing out a few different things to see what happens.

I run a lot of bow weight. Right now 300 in lead, plus 400 surf side. I am going to start playing around with putting some weight in the opposite corner locker and see if I can give the wave more power.

I just finished some good testing on my ballast upgrade. With about 1000 only in the rear locker I had a huge wall of water but no pocket, even at 13.5 mph and taps at 1. Then I tried filling the bow sac, 400 lbs u shaped and I have a good size wave with a long pocket at 11.4 mph and taps at 4-5, depending on how many people are in the boat.

Here is a pic of the wave with the bow weight.

What's your theory on weight in the opposite side locker duffy?

Nice looking wave ewok. Yeah if I try to put wy taps at 4 even with 1000lbs in the bow I get the huge wall of water like you are talking about. I think the next time I go out I might try adding some more bow weight and see what happens.

I'm getting a little bit of propwash on our wave (this is an MB, not a Tige). I don't have a wake plate, but I'm wondering what the collective wisdom here is about running a flap to cut down on the wash?

I was looking at it yesterday while surfing and it looks like where the water comes around the two sides of the hull it forms "V", and that the propwash is forceably ejected right into the middle of the v and some shoots up and onto the wave if we are going faster than 11 or so.

I am hoping I have enough weight to counter say like 300-500 pounds on the opposite side. Basically the theory is more weight = more displacment which = bigger wave

It's as simple as that. Putting more weight on the opposite side allows more weight on the surf side without leaning the boat over so much that you get water over the side and it starts filling through vents or locker doors. The greater overall weight of the boat displaces more water which creates a greater wake.

makes sense guys. I guess as long as you have enough surf side weight to counter the non-surf side weight and keep your lean going it should work out. I might have to try that out one day. Just working on my bow weight first.
