    fuel system problems

1st time on the lake this year, boat was spuddering and wouldn't run correctly. I thought it was bad gas, but I removed the fuel/seperator filter and noticed the filter was only half full. I filled the filter with gas and boat ran fine the entire time we were out. Parked the boat for a couple of hours and same thing again. Remove the filter filled w/ gas and off we went w/ no problems. This happened several times over this wkend so far. It seems when we are under power it is fine, but if I let idle for 3-5 minutes it loses pressure or something. It is almost like the gas is draining out of the fuel filter. Also happened after we ran the tank of gas out and added fresh gas, so I don't think gas was the issue.

    Any ideas for a fix?
    TIA

    Flush the tank.

Sounds like you have some schmag stuck in the pick up in the tank. Try blowing back into the tank to see if something dislodges. You might have to get to the tank fitting itself. My old tank had a check valve right at the pickup fitting. You'll have to depress the ball to blow back into the tank. Yes, it sucks to blow.

At low rpm, there is enough flow to keep it running. When you apply thottle, it starts pulling fuel out of the filter faster than the restricted pick up will allow it to flow out of the tank and in to the filter.

    That's my theory.

There is a check ball valve in the fuel tank pickup fitting.
Maybe instead of usually sticking closed yours is stuck open.

can you give me an idea where the check valve is? right on the fuel tank? at the opening? I know there is a thread on how to get to the tank. I will start looking for that also.
        thanks.

The very first picture here. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16580 You can see where the fuel line connects to the tank. That small 90* fitting is actually a check valve.

tanks. Looks like I got some work ahead of me. What is involved in taking the back seats out? I may look into this on Thursday.
