Appear to have a leak

My bilge was working a little yesterday while anchored in a cove. Engine compartment had maybe 4" in it. I did not notice the day before.

I plan to take a look at this soon and I've been reading some threads here.

I plan to pull the floor panel and take a look there. Where is the access to inspect the fin bolts and that area of the hull also? I have an 05 22V.

I've also noticed that the water intake leaks out some water after we trailer it. I assume that is normal.

I also think that my leak is originating from the transom somewhere as the difference yesterday was people standing on the platform more than the day before.

As far as sealing those bolts, is it as easy as removing the platform and unscrewing a bolt add sealant, screw back in?

I also got a nice chip from the dock yesterday on our 3rd outing.

Bummer. I scratched my side Tige decal my first time out, really pissed me off. Totally my fault for being in such a hurry. I've decided to not be in such a hurry when docking/trailering, no matter how busy it is. It's just not worth it!

Had same problem this weekend on boat. Boat was sitting in water overnight and arrived in morning and found about 6 inches of water in bilge. After further research found a crack in the exhaust pipe that attaches to the silencer. Since the pipes are fiberglass I am looking at throwing a fiberglass repair and replace at end of season.

Sorry to see the dock rash! Ouch! I see by the pic you have ballast. I would start there. Take a look at all the fill pumop nipples. if it is a stock system they cracked alot and leak. Shut off the 1.25in ball valve that feed the 4 fill pumps and see if the leak stops.

I found that my bow D-hook is leaking a bit as I noticed a little water in the anchor compartment yesterday even after tightening the bolts. I plan to loosen it up and put some sealant around and in the holes. I also tightened up my transom D-hooks also which I also plan to reseal. The bilge did not run yesterday but there was some water under the engine. I'm guessing I have something going on around the transom. Is the valve the only big PVC pipe in front of the motor. Depending on where a crack may be shutting off the valve may not prove out that piece leaking.

I also find it interesting that the bow hook sits just at or just below the water line. Most other boats I noticed were well above.

Another way to find leaks, while the boat is on the trailer (much more convenient): Adjust the trailer wheel so the boat is sitting at normal flotation angle, then dump some water into the bilge. If it leaks up, it will also leak down - and you'll be able to see where the water is coming out on the pavement below.

That dock rash looks brutal I would have cried if that happened to my boat. Did you have fenders out too?

4" of water is quite a bit, I'd check your engine hoses, prop shaft packing, and ballast.

Agreed. It even bent the rubrail. Was there an exposed railroad spike or something on the dock? That's an incredible amount of damage from a dock bump.

did not have a bumper there and back end got caught around the corner of the dock. it sucked for sure and was a good lesson not to hurry at the dock. I looked at the dock yesterday and there as an exposed bolt that I must have hit.

could have been much worse.

More than likely not your shaft seal as it's a dripless and those are pretty reliable plus it's nearly directly under your engine.

More than likely it's caused by the bow/stern eyes coming loose. I had the same issue on my 2003. Or a leak from ballast fitting or cooling hoses on the engine.
