Can someone explain the auto volume feature?

Ok. I know what it does and I do like the feature but the few times I have used it (on 1, the minimum setting) it just seemed like more of a hassle. It seems tied to the RPM's instead of the speed as it ramps the volume once you hit the throttle.

The few times I've used it I had a problem with finding the sweet spot where it will work as intended. With all the factory audio system it sometimes would jump up so high in volume when taking off and the speedset on that the speakers would distort then go back to a good level once we reached wakeboarding speed.I haven't tried it with all the new amps and WS420 yet. I'd really like to use it as while I'm riding my wife says its too difficult to manage the stereo volume, kids, other boats, stuff that might be floating in the water, keeping a good line, etc. She ends up turning up the stereo when she gets to it and even though I give her the hand signal that I can't hear it, it never gets cranked.

Typically I leave the stereo volume at 28 and just use the 420 to adjust the volume. Can someone explain how the volume works? It would be great to know where to set the head unit volume at idle so that at 3100 RPM or 23MPH the volume goes to 28. I guess the problem I've noticed is that the boat will rev higher using the speedset until it reaches the correct speed, thus turning the volume way up before settling at the correct speed and a lower volume.

Does anyone use it along with a 420?

Set it at idle at say 12-15 something that is enjoyable not loud and not to soft, it is tied in with engine noise/wind noise similar to a car tied into motor noise. That way as you increase speed it'll only increase to say 26-28 instead of all the way to 33 which is max.

Since you have the WS-420 at your fingers, I would disable the auto-volume.
