    New Tige Owner

Hey everyone - I'm new to the Tige boat ownership, but not to boating. I just purchased a 2000 22i for wake boarding up in Lake Arrowhead, CA. I used to have a Conquest Top Cat deck boat. I'm real excited for this new boat, so I can boat from home rather than heading out to Lake Havasu every weekend. I just ran the boat yesterday for the first time of the season and it ran great for a couple of hours and then when I was pulling my son, I felt a hesitation like the prop was slipping. It happened a couple of times so I pulled my boat onto my lift to see if I caught something on my prop. I couldn't see anything wrong. I had 7 people on the boat when I was towing my son. Did I have too much weight on board or what else should I look for?

Congratulations and welcome to the board.

Your engine hesitation may be due to bad gas or water in the gas if the boat has been idle for a long time. Try fresh fuel and changing the filters.

Welcome to the club pics!!! the fuel sounds like a good place to start but if you think the prop was slipping maybe it was the tranny hows the fluids in it?

Boy that interior is clean and in great condition! Make sure the transmission fluid level is up to the mark.

Check out that beauty. Sweet. Congrats on great old boat.

Are you running the original prop? It could be cavitating. Where was your taps set when you were in wakeboard mode? It could also be your tranny. I'll see if I can dig up the service bulletin from Velvet Drive.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Thanks! The boat is very clean other than a couple small interior blemishes and a chip on the gel under the boat.

The prop is not original - it's about 3yrs old, and I was not using the Taps system at all when I was running.

That particular hull has huge negative chines. It will trap air. Try running the taps around 3 in order to bring the nose down a bit and see if that helps. It should.

Regarding the tranny fluid, the original full mark on your dipstick is incorrect. It doesn't account for the tranny cooler capacity. In order to fill it correctly, you need to do it on the water. Get everything up to operating temp. Stop, put it in forward the neutral then reverse then neutral. Check the fluid immediately and fill until its at the full mark. When its on the trailer, the fluid level should be over the full mark on the dip stick. Make a mark on it.

Thanks for the information! You just gave me an excuse to take a little spin in the boat today or tomorrow

I thought the hull may have something to do with it. Like I mentioned, the boat ran flawless until I picked up a couple more of my sons friends, and when I was towing him I had more weight sitting on the back bench.

Mine will do the same if I run the bow up too high. A little "down plane", as I like to call it, cures it every time. You can also just run some ballast up there, either people or water. For wakeboarding, I like to use the taps to clean up the wake. I generally use ballast instead of taps for surfing.
