    New prop needed after today...Suggestions?

We had a little incident today and will need a new prop...What is everyone's opinion of the 1235? Anyone have one on a RZR? With a few people and a decent amount of ballast it takes a little too long to plane out. I'm guessing the 1235 will help right? Any other advantages? Disadvantages other than top end? We rarely ever run over 30mph.

    I'll explain what happened later.

I just had 3 props repaired by ACME a few weeks ago. $125/prop unless metal needs added. Jim and the repair folks did an AMAZING job and would probably give you a good idea as to which prop would work best for your setup. I have heard that the 1235 works best for high weight situations... So depending on the amount of ballast you are running plus avg number of people in the boat it could work pretty good for you! May we please hear the story now

Also helps with cavitation and holding speed when loaded down with ballast. It's an overall good prop just have to be careful on the top end when running WOT. I have one in a box haven't used it on my 12 yet but ran it on my 10 and 11 rz2 pushing 3500-4000lbs (wakeboarding)

Call Acme and give them your set up, altitude, etc and they can set you up with what you need.

Everybody goes through this. Just have it repaired like Tault says and you'll be good to go.

x2. Best possible advice. Acme's folks are awesome, knowledgeable, and happy to discuss their products. Give them a call, it's the best prop education you'll ever get.

BTW, I have the 1235 on my 24Ve at Acme's specific recommendation. I probably have more ballast than most people and it works great for us on our longer, heavier, and modestly powered boat (by which I mean I have the "standard" 343, not the "manly" 409 engine) operating at ~2200 feet above sea level.

            Report back!

I have a 2007 RZ2. I put a 1235 on it before I ran it with the 537 that came on it. I bought the boat used last year. Last summer I ran it a few times with some enzo sacs and it performed really well. There were no issues and seemed to have plenty of power at 6000 feet and the MP 340 motor. The top speed was about 42, I thought it would be less (not that I ever run it WOT). The test at WOT was a little trimmed out, maybe taps at 4. I didn't really look carefully, but I do remember that I lifted the plate a little and got a couple more MPH. My Dorsey trailer has about 3" of clearance for the 1235. I'd check that before installation. On another thread a fix for prop clearance would be to shim the bunks (not ideal, but should work).

Regarding ACME, call them. They were extremely helpful. I'm sure by now, they have even more information. I may not have "needed" the 1235, but everything I read and or heard was that it would probably be better than the 537. The 1235 is larger and will hold at speed while weighted better. Not that I know, but it's possible that gas mileage could be better. I remember running a little under 3K rpm while surfing.

One thing I forgot on the repair side... I am currently in AZ, and after shipping the prop back to Acme it took about a week and a half to get back. So total time about 2 weeks. And since I asked nicely they sent me a T-shirt!

So here's what happened...Yesterday we headed to the river around lunch time. We got a lot of rain Friday night and Sat morning and weren't sure how the water would be. After a lot of rain there's usually a bunch of debris and the water will be flowing pretty fast. As it turned out the water was perfect.

We got out on the boat around 2:30 and ended up cruising for a bit and then pulled up to the side of the river with a couple other boats and let the boys play and swim for almost 2 hours. After that my wife and I both wakeboarded once each until we couldn't go any more and then I surfed a little before calling it quits around 6:30.

From the beginning I told my wife that this is 'Our boat' and that we would both work as a team to load and unload the boat...I'm sure you all know where this is going! I back the boat down, get in it, pull it off the trailer, she parks the trailer and then I come pick her up. When we go to load up, she drops me off, I go get the trailer, back it down and she pulls the boat up onto the trailer.

We have successfully completed this 1 time previously, the only time we tried. She pulled the boat up perfectly the last time on her first attempt. Since yesterday had gone so well and there was no stress and we use a private ramp, I had my wife drop me off, I backed the trailer down and she attempted to load the boat 9 times...After the 3rd time she began getting frustrated and angry while I remained calm and continued to be positive and give her advice (which she did not take).

She demanded that I get in the boat and load it for her but I insisted that she keep trying. I was afraid that if she quit it would only make the next time more stressful and difficult especially if we had guests.

She finally got the boat up and I hooked the bow strap on and began winching the boat forward. Apparently the bottom of the ramp has silted up a bit over the last couple weeks because even though I had the trailer pretty deep in the water the boat made it only about 3/4 of the way with the winch. I asked her to give it a little more gas, a little more and in her frustration she gunned it! The bow lifted and the prop went bang! I'm assuming it hit the concrete. It could have hit the trailer as I noticed when we pulled up the ramp (after backing the trailer down a couple more feet) that the rudder was turned 3/4 of the way to the left but I didn't see any marks on the trailer.

Anyway, the next several hours were not enjoyable to say the least. Here's a pic for your enjoyment:

On a separate note, TAPS didn't work all day. The gauge would move all around after calibrating it but the plate didn't move. The dealer replaced the actuator a couple weeks ago because the gauge didn't work and it performed fine last time out. I tried the reset under the dash but didn't check the fuse. Any suggestions?

Also our tow rope/Nav light on the tower won't lock with the tow ring facing up. It does with the Nav light facing up but doesn't make contact with the little ball bearing on the tower to lock it in. It slaps the tower hard when someone falls. Anyone had this problem?

Actually I was guessing it was a 537 and after doing a little research it looks like it is in fact the 537. My boat is a bit of a dog out of the hole with anything more than 50% ballast and 2 adults.

I'm gonna call OJ tomorrow. I'm really interested in the TZ-X5.
