    Issues, issues

Took out the 2010 RZ2 for the first time this year yesterday. Cold, it was very cold. Anyhow, couple of things. I had the latest version updated to the touch and it did not rectify the issue I'm having with my ballast system. Anytime I change key positions (finish a surf set and kill the boat, have the key in aux position and start the boat) the ballast shows as empty. So of course when I select my profile, the boat wants to fill the ballast sacs to their setting.
2). For the guys with the big sacs, I'm running 1000 lb sac starboard and 400 lb sac on the starboard bench behind the driver. We had a good tilt going, but the bag was emptying itself. I believe it is due to having a short length of hose connected to the vent, so here is my question. Would my best bet be to run the hose from one locker to the other (port side rear to starboard side rear) and vice versa to rectify this issue? I lost a good 8 inches off the top of the sac.
Other minor issues were chrome (or should I say plastic) piece of steering wheel fell off. This is the second steering wheel I've had issues with, first one was peeling apart. Needless to say I'm not a fan of the stock steering wheel. Maybe Tige will let me upgrade this time around.
Also, I noticed that the taps and the rpm gauges look foggy?? No condensation, but hard to read when the sun is out. Speed gauge looks fine.

A check valve is probably the simplest solution to it draining.

Isn't he saying it is draining out the vent hose? If you put a check valve on the vent hose, then it also won't vent air like it is supposed to. You must be thinking that it is draining through the intake.

So I would think the first point is to be sure where you are losing water from. If it is from the vent (and I have seen that with multiple threads), then the best solution seems to be to run it to the opposite side, or even up towards the bow (isn't that what WAboating did)?
      Be excellent to one another.

        Passive Ballast Draining

Here is a thread with some pics and info. IMO, most of the draining is through the drain plumbing. This is due to the height of the filled sac, the weight of the water and the level of the drain thru-hull. The water is simply fallowing the laws of physics and is equalizing.

I would get some extra hose, clamps and 4 .75 hb x hb hose connectors and relocate both the vent and drain lines for each sac to the opposite side thru-hulls. Then retest.

My bad I just assumed it was actually draining out of the drain not the vent. I thought he was just guessing it was due to the short vent. When the bag in our axis was draining a check valve fixed it. Looks like Mike is on to some good info!

            Can I get an amen

There have been several useful threads (e.g., here and here) lately with observations and solutions.

In short, run both vent and drain to opposite sides and be done with the accursed problem. Hopefully you do not have a bad check valve on the intake.

Great, thanks guys. Any ideas on the ballast system as far as my touch problem? I posted this last year and the consensus was to reinstall the touch update, which I have now done. Thanks again.
