    Perfect pass

Anybody upgraded their old perfect pass with perfect passe's stargazer system, they say you just unplug the old module and plug in the new one and install the GPS antenna, 500 for the unit and 200 for a new gauge, pretty expensive I thought, I have the old paddle wheel set up.

Easy to talk to, and easy to work with. I bought one for my 08 20v.

Is a GPS-based speedo really desireable? I would think what you care about is WATER speed, not land speed. If there's a current your hull speed relative to the water would change while the GPS speedo would work to keep your land speed constant.

Correct, GPS is awesome on a lake. Crappy on a river. we have friend with the GPS on their mastercraft and they have to compensate for current each way. Really sucks and makes double ups impossible.

Well, at 51 years old, the only double I have to worry about is a beer in each hand, my boat is only on lake mead and Powell, interesting point though about the current, my perfect pass is 7 year old paddle wheel design, which it has done a good job , butt the last couple of years it seems to take for ever to settle down to the set speed.

I have had both systems and the gps based system is hands down so much better. I am not sure that I would spend that much coin just to upgrade if the Perfect Pass was working, but if it broke I would definately upgrade. I am never on a river- that would bug me. But I remember messing with the constant and settings on my old PP if I added a lot of weight. Now it hits the desired speed without any hunting or overshooting regardless of the amount of ballast I'm using.
