    Help diagnose my engine problems!!

I am always impressed with the amount of knowledge on this site. I am hoping those great minds can help me with my current problem.

Took the boat out for the first time this year on Saturday - yeah, I know, I live in Texas and only now just got the boat out - to many "other" kid activities. Anyway, I digress from my topic.

I have a 2004 24V with the 370HP closed cooled motor. Boat started pretty easy considering it was sitting for about 8 months. (Remember the drought in Texas last summer!) I had put Stabil in it and it seemed to idle fine. Took off slowly and got up to about 18MPH when it seemed that the speed topped out. Even if I opened the throttle to full the boat would only start to creep up in speed. Enginee RPM's would only start to creep up as well. Basically no real throttle response. It would eventually start to go faster but it would take a very long time. Never really got over 25MPH. Was this way all day. Strong fuel smell as well.

Both batteries were low due to storage so I changed one out so we could take the boat out. I ran off the one new battery for the day.

Now I am not sure if this might be due to a damaged fuel pump. I did run the tank dry last summer right before we put the boat away for the season.

My best guess is a ECM issue, fuel pump or something else. Any thoughts and ideas that I could try would be really appreciated especially before I take it into the dealer.

    Thanks!

I had something similar last summer. While changing the impeller, I broke a fuel injector without knowing it. Was unnoticeable until I checked all wires and noticed the top was fractured. No power but it still ran smooth on 7 cylinders. Started by taking off the plug wires one at a time. Give it a try, maybe you will get lucky.

this same problem happened to me recently... i looked in the engine and found i forgot to plug in the low pressure fuel pump wires from when i was repairing the wiring on the high pressure fuel pump. maybe your low pressure fuel pump needs repair/replacement?
