You need to be sure you get this cut

If I cut that much I will have to cut my bracket. Did you cut your bracket? Right now the platform is only 1inch longer than the bracket. My sides are 17 1/2" and the center is 26 1/2" from front to back

I did not cut my braket but my angle is what I showed you there and its right up to the bracket.. Id say throw it on your boat and go test it to make sure its enough then do the finish work! Your going to love the difference it makes

If that is true, you are smaller than the '08+ platform.

But what I'd really like to know is what did you use as a trim replacement.

The stock aluminum piece is Juuuunkie.

No need for a trim piece. I rounded off the edges with fiberglass mat.

Does anybody no if it is necessary to gelcoat after I finish with the fiberglass work or can I just paint it with automotive paint?

It's up to u. I finish with gel.coat. to assure a water tight seal. If u have ever painted resign it sucks it up.
