Fans line streets for boat parade
The Associated Press
Being 30 miles from the ocean is close enough for Chino Hills boaters, who are again celebrating the holidays with a boat parade through the community's roads.
Vehicles towing a variety of decorated vessels snaked their way through the landlocked city's Los Serranos neighborhood Thursday night. The quirky procession was prepared for another run Friday night.
More than 65 boats were expected to participate in the two-day parade, which has become a beloved tradition since its inception 14 years ago.
"Every time I tell someone we're involved in the Chino Hills Boat Parade, they say, 'Where is the water?' But we don't need water. People love it. They line the streets," said parade organizer Ernie Kruse of the Chino Hills Kiwanis Club.
