    Exactly, little oil on the seal and hand tighten. I think whoever did the last oil filter on my boat before I bought it put it on dry and used a wrench and a cheater bar to tighten it. Lol. I was actually cutting through the ring as I was hitting it with the chisle and 3lb sledge. Good times. Ha ha

          These days most filters have pictures on them showing exactly how many turns past "hand tight" they intend you to go. I just follow the instructions....
