Still a value?

I have been looking to upgrade my boat for a little while. I had started leaning towards Tige thinking it was a better bang for the buck. I have been targeting something in the 21'-22' range and have been leaning towards the 22ve. It seems like the prices on the VE are starting to push Tige up closer to the Premium (at least perceived that way) builders. I admit that I have not priced out each one with the options and studied them but from what I have seen it seems like Tige is not the value play anymore. Maybe that statement is being distorted by just looking at the ve's rather than the v's.

I was hoping to stay close to or under 50K and that doesn't seem possible with the ve. Maybe it is with the v, and I have seen a couple of X-10's that make that number but it is with the smaller engine.

If nothing else, I hope I've proven myself worthy as Tige owner on this board and denbow, you threw out a great challenge.

I'm a new owner...my boat is just getting finished up at the dealer after being built at the factory in Texas. I went with the 24Ve and while the price is a little higher, the same issues existed...just a few thousand dollars apart in thinking.

My family has been a deck boat family for quite some time and when the kids proved to my wife and I that they were serious about wakeboarding by loving it as much as they do, we decided to go with a wakeboard boat. We looked at most, dare I say all of them. I circled as my wife said, visiting the boothes at the convention center boat show. Quizzing the eager sales guys. Trying to understand what differentiates the brands and their respective followings.

After a summer of pretty intense research towards buying a brand new boat, we determined that Tige makes a premium boat with all the amenities we wanted and very few compromises at a good price. Once you really match up the Malibus of the world with Tige, I think you will find that Tige makes a better hull, stronger, heavier and more durable. If you are only about the bling factor, Malibu is likely to win you over...or Mastercraft for that matter. But if you really like boating, the feel, the drive etc....I suspect you'll wind back up with Tige.

You can knock quite a bit off the price by going with the V series and they are great boats. Same great build etc... Just a little different interior space and different transom.

Take a look at the 2006 Tige thread or the 2006 Ve thread that is still right around this one... Go to the later pages...17 or so and take a look at the comparison drives that have been done recently...mine being one of them. There are several others that will give you great information as well...one that is heading towards a Malibu as well in fairness...

Whatever you do, take the time to research and find the boat that meets the majority of your needs and only askes for small compromises that won't affect your experience on the lake. When it's all said and done, the major manufacturers make nice boats...some a little nicer than others and in different ways. The best built and safest boat out there is the Tige...

You make a good point, but you got your boat from Tige Water Sports in Corona,
So you are getting the best of both worlds Service and an awesome boat!

I think depending on where denbow is located service should also play in the decision.
I have seen a few post where people have hated there boats only because the service department did not have a clue to what they where doing.

And yes I have even seen this issue come up with a tige. (As hard as that is to believe)

Ok...so I'm sold... Whitlock87 does make a great point and one that played into our decission...we didn't want to drive 2 hours to the dealer and the quality of the service department matters...

As for being a Tige salesperson...I dunno about that. I'm blessed with a great job and besides, I wouldn't be objective, fair and open minded about other brands like I am now...yeah....that's it....fair and open minded...

I personally don't beleive that you should look at Tige as a budget-type wakeboard boat. They are one of the best. Compare Mastercraft, Nautique and Malibu. They each make a nice boat with some things I like better than my Tige, and some things that make me glad that I have a Tige.

For significantly cheaper, look towards Centurion, Supra/Moomba, or even a good quality I/O with perfect pass.

I agree with talltigeguy, you shouldn't look at Tige as being a budget boat. When I bought my first Tige five years ago, it was about $5k less than a Malibu. In '04 when I bought my current Tige, it was about the same price or maybe $1k less than the VLX. During that time everyone's boat has gotten much more expensive, and the Tiges have gotten much nicer and with more standard options. It holds it own against any of the others.

First you have to find the right boat for you, then you have to be completely satisified with the dealer and service that you will need, and then work out a fair price so that everyone is happy.

On the other hand...my experience with the Corona folks has been nothing but positive. They have been responsive, the price was well negotiated and I haven't been nickel'd and dime'd for anything after the contract was signed... Just my .02

I have had a GREAT experience dealing with Tige Water sports in Corona.

I'd hire Daniel in an instant if I could.

He has made the whole process of selecting, outfitting, and buying a boat painless and even fun!

He has my money and he still calls me to make sure I am OK!

I can’t imagine buying anywhere else.

Daniel was a large part of the reason I went with a Tige rather than the Master Craft.

He gets to know his customers and he does not pressure nor sell them stuff they won’t use.

And yes a “blinged out” Tige is up there in price with the Malibu’s and MC’s.

In two years my next one will be from Daniel as well.

At the risk of getting grief from all of you because I'm probably going with a new Malibu, let me also say that Tige Watersports in Corona has been a great dealership to work with.

We bought our 01 23V in May of 2001 from Tom, and both then and now he was/is great to work with, much like the comments folks have mentioned about Daniel.

Their service dept is top notch, and being in sales myself, I guess you can't please everyone all of the time. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the dealership.

And thats MY 2 cents.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I've never been to the Corona shop, so I can't comment, but the guys on this discussion board sure seem happy there.

That is a low blow (no pun intended) to make fun of someone's height. If your beef is how they treated you, leave it at that.

I have bought 2 Tiges and Tom and Chris were nothing but professional and informative. I did not end up buying from them due to wanting to have my dealer closer to where I boat which is Havasu and Mead. There pricing and service was in line with the Other Tige dealers I spoke with. My friends have nothing but good things to say about there service.

I buy alot of high ticket items. If a dealer does not like what I offer, I leave and go to other dealers. I do not call them jerks or other names. Its business. In the boat business ufortuneately there are not the number of dealers like the car business.

All I can say is the Corona sells more boats than any other Tige dealer, tons of repeat customers and referrals and a service department with a great reputation.

They would not have the success they have without a good product, fair price and good service

I've been thinking about all of this and wanted to throw one more comment on the pile. I was at Corona yesterday on my way home from a meeting and decided to stop by and visit the boat. The guys that do all the rigging and stereo installation had it out in the parking lot running the motor and testing things out. They were excited that I happened to stop by when I did and took great pride in showing me everything they had done and how and why they put things where they did etc. It was a blast to have these guys show off their efforts to the "new owner" and I was jazzed that they took such pride in their work. It was clear that they were craftsmen who had a very customer centric point of view.

It's just one more example of the great customer service that I have experienced over the last two months at Tige Watersports in Corona. Even if my experience would have been bad, I wouldn't get on here and trash people... Best of luck...

As most of the regulars on this board know , I have been torn between a Malibu and another Tige. My experiences over the years with Tige of Corona is a large factor in this decision. They have been a great dealership to do business with, especially their service dept.

Denbow- If you had a bad sales experience, do not let that deprive you of having your boat serviced at a quality facility. The guys in service are not only excellent at getting the job done right, they really do care about the customers and go the extra mile when needed. There have been several occasions that Greg and Topher have helped me out of a pinch(and saving several good weekends with that). I recently had a "mix up" with Tom in sales that bummed me out, and would have maybe caused some to abandon ship. Everyone has an off day now and then, and after 8 years of doing good business with Tige I can deal with one bad day.

By the way, I bought my Tige because it fit the needs of what I was looking for in a boat. I did not buy it based on it's price relative to the competition. Please don't take offense to this, but your statement of Tige being a "value play" is ignorant. Do a little more research on the boat(s) and maybe you will see the "value" Tige has built into thier boats.

Most people know how I feel about Tige Water Sports,
But for those that don’t. Here it goes.
The service that I have received has been of the highest level.
I feel that price is fair and the quality of their work is among the highest I have seen.

When I was looking to get my first boat, I was leaning towards the Yamaha ar230. Chris got me into a Switch V for about the same price (with options).
Seeing how this was my first boat, Tom took me to Ellsinore and should me how to drive it. We spent over an hour Docking and putting the boat on and off the trailer. I know that with out Toms help, I would have done some damage to my boat the first year I owned it. But knock on wood we have not had any mishaps in this area.

I would highly recommend them.
