    Throttle Really Tight

    Hello,

I just purchased a 2006 24Ve and took it out for the first time this weekend. The throttle was so tight that I was barely able to pull away from the dock since shifting into reverse and forward took so much time.

Is this a normal thing with these boats or does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the site. Some of the professional mechanics will chime in soon or you might be able to search for throttle issues, most complain that it's too loose and they want to tighten it up.

In the mean time, it's customary to post a pic of your new boat here and you need a good avatar for that screen name, I was thinking this would be ok.

Did you try pushing in the button and moving throttle lever. That will take the shift cable out of the equation. If it is still stiff when you neutral it out then you have a shifter assy or throttle cable issue. You will need to take the shifter assy off and check it. If it gets easy when you neutral it out and move the handle then the shift cable is the problem. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks I am definitely a fan so far. Everything is perfect except for this issue which is an easy one to fix I'm sure. I have always had I/Os before so I wasn't sure if this was just "normal"

kko, tried that while I was first checking out the boat and it was still a little sticky but not as bad as when the button is not pushed. I will try again when I get home and report back tomorrow!

Great looking boat Do you have the ZF transmission? If so there is a bolt on top of it that tightens up against the detent of the shifter. I'll look for a pic

This bolt was loose and leaking oil on mine and when I tightend it up you could really notice the difference in the shifter. If you do have this tranny, don't loosen it up too much or it will start leaking.

What lake do you go to?
I like Castaic for a day of fun and pudding stone for a quick 1 or 2 hour run during the week.

I was up at Pyramid last weekend but Castaic is where we usually spend our time at. Love both of the lakes but Castaic is closer to me.

Yeah thats where I got it from. They gave us a 30 day warranty but I live far away and was looking for an easy fix if possible to avoid the trip back out there
