Speaker placement, in need of some ideas

I have been wanting to add a 4th set of WS650 to my 2011 RZ2,and i want them up high in a good listening area. I also have poor sound, or volume in the observers seat area that i want to fix. I have thought about putting them in the walk through, but not sure thats the best place. (Maybe the easiest?.)Any advise or pictures would be very help full!!!!!!

The best place for the driver and observer would be on top of the dash like malibu's. The sound reflects off the glass and spreads out from there. Im not sure on what the RZ2's dash look like underneath but for sound quality that would be the best spot.

The only downfall is, water can sit on the speakers and you can't get a drill,screwdriver, or router in there without taking off the glass.

If you are good at fiberglass or have money to spend, you can probably get speaker pods made for your dash.

kx250frider617, that would be the best place up on the dash just like the 2 Malibu's i have had in the past, but im not up for that challenge! The Windshield has to come off, and there is no telling what i would run into under the dash, and glove box. Great idea, i wonder if someone has tried that on a RZ2?? Anybody??

I'm sure Tim had that custom made and it cost about $500 or more to make the first one. Then of course there's the mold, which makes the second set more affordable. Give Wetsounds a call and see what they say. We'd all be curious to know what the outcomes is.

What tower speakers do you have? We have 4 Wet Sounds Rev10's. The Rev series speakers really sound good, especially with the WS420 and being able to adjust the EQ a bit. They can really help bridge the gap where the in boat speakers don't cover well.

IMO, if you add any more in boat speakers you should keep them all around the same level or height. It seems a little strange at first that the speakers are so low and below ear level but it is a really good concept (whether Tige did it on purpose or not).

Having them below ear level allows you to listen to them at a comfortable level and still be able to talk to other people in the boat. There's nothing more frustrating than having to turn the music way down or off in order to communicate. I've been doing home audio for 10+ years and we use this concept all the time in Dining Rooms by installing speakers low in the wall at about seat height vs in the ceiling. It's more comfortable.

If you want to add another pair of in boat speakers I believe others with your boat have installed one in the Captain's chair base facing the observer and another below the observer's seat a little further forward facing th captain. That's also what I did in my RZR. Sorry I don't have pics of them right now. I'll take some this weekend.

Here's where I just installed an extra set in my 11 Rz2. I put one under the seat base, and another one next to the one under the observers seat. I also moved the one off the foot well wall and installed it in the side panel since the sound seemed to get lost under the dash and also to make room for a 2nd sub. Then mounted a 420 under the dash.

houstonshark you are so right about that! I have one pair of PRO80's, and setting in the observers seat you hear the harsh of the horns and the sub, (i upgraded to one XS-12, and bridged channls 5&6 on the SYN6 amp to push it= BIG improvement over the free air 10")
jrj701 you have done it!! Thanks! Sorry bro but im gonna copy you! Any problems with those changes, and upgrades? I think the speaker by the shifter will give me some much needed mids in the right spot!

My sub upgrade, because of my heater i had to build full box behind the kick panel, and black out a speaker grill.
