Looking for info on RZR, R20, Z1

ok I am looking to possibly upgrade to a vdrive boat now since surfing has become my main focus, and tige is at the top of my list. I cant quite afford the bigger boats yet (z3,rz2 etc) So I"m looking at the R20, RZR and Z1. There are no dealers close to me at all so I dont have the luxury of actually getting to go look at them and talk to a dealer. My question basically is how close in price these boats start at? And which boat offers the best for the money. Obviously the R20 is cheapest, but once you put some options on it does a RZR make more sense? That kind of thing. I'm not looking for a lot of options, basically, Ballast, 343, TAPS, and cruse control. I"d like to have the tower of power stereo, but if need be I have a complete wet sounds set up I can take out of my existing boat. I" know there are some dealers on this site so maybe they could help me out.

Are you looking to buy new or used? Where are you located, just the state is fine. If you start looking used then you can have a RZ2 for new R20 money, if that is the boat you want.

The R20 puts out the same wake as the RZR, just has a different tower, no Tige touch, and a less intricate gelcoat and vinyl stitching pattern. The Z1 can be optioned out just like all the other Tiges, it hs a great wake and IMHO, looks great too, I just don't know that the pricing would be on a new one.

If you haven't found it yet, NADA.com has the "blues book" value of used boats and trailers. It will give you an idea of what a bank is willing to finance for a boat, but those prices can fluctuate a little based on the local market, options and the condition of the boat.

I am open to both options. I do prefer new just because I am so meticulous with maintaing my stuff. But Used is a good option. MY only hang up is I like the new tiges like 2010 and up. I'm not a huge fan of the 2009 and lower rz2's. I am located in south west ohio.

So you like the Tige Touch? That and some stitching of the interior and snap in carpet are the only differences in the 09-10 models. The 09 was the first year with the AlphaZ tower.

I can feel your pain though, I just priced out a fully loaded 2010 RZ2 on NADA and the average retail came out to 81,000 without a trailer. The low retail was 71,000. The 2009 RZ2 with the same options came in at 66,000 for average retail and 58,000 for low retail, again without a trailer. Big difference in those numbers for just one model year apart.

From my limited knowledge of he R20, they start in the mid 40s and usually option up to the mid 50s. Hope you find the right boat.

I am a big fan of snap out carpet, and all fiberglass floors. Also the alpha towers look great.

YA the R20 seems to be more my speed at this point, but with options I have no idea what it would price out at.

At this point you should call a dealer.
            Feedback on the R20:
I have had mIne for 2 weeks and am thrilled with it!
I have the 343, upgraded jell coat, custom Bimini, powder coated tower,
Aftermarket sound system from memphis, snap in carpet,
Taps, surf ballast, bow cooler and custom wheels on a
Tandem axle boat mate trailer. I was not even close
To the price of the RZR. Call WWS and ask for nick
303-430-0202, they have sold tiges all over the west.

Note: my boat was a show buy........

While I am biased, I think 2009 was a sweet spot. New Alpha Z tower. I prefer not having TigeTouch. Vinyl was better than in prior years. The rear ballast was below the floor. Switch to PCM motors had already occurred. Graphics were nice.

I used to think I was a fan of snap out carpet. Until I realized it never really dried out underneath unless you pulled it out of the boat. I keep my carpet clean with a shop vac and hose it out periodically. Always dries out completely. So I will keep my non-snap out carpet.

There are deals to be had currently for both used and left over new inventory. Just have to look around. Just to give you an idea. I bought my 08' 20v pretty much loaded brand new last year (2011). I paid 34k for it out the door. Granted, it's the smaller 20 foot boat, but it's surf wave is fantastic for a smaller boat when it's weighted properly. The Z1 is a great boat! The dealer we got our 20v had a Z1, but it didn't have a tower on it cause he was trying to sell it as a purely ski boat.

Give this link a once over for new and gently used tige boats:

I am originally from Dayton Ohio (Beavercreek), and I believe there is a tige dealer in the Cincinnati area, or at least there used to be.

I'm sure they are.The carpet is glued in.The floor on a 08 is probably smooth whereas the snap in carpet has a textured fiberglass floor.
