PCM343 questions

We average 3-5 gpm (calculated per fuel flow meter at days end) on our 2009 PCM 409 for a mix of wakesurfing and wakeboarding.

Thats exacty where we fit too but with MP 409. Sure like to see a Yanmar (Toyota) Diesel some day.

I will be doing measurements when I gets warmer, PCM is going to send us some equipment.

Th best part is CC uses the same engines and cant come close to those figures, so that points to a better hull design for Tige.
I would love to see what this new G23 is going to burn at 5400lbs.

If you buy a MC, you get the added luxury of 6+ GPH and all for an extra 30K more.

Heh, i'm sure most buyers aren't really concerned about cost of the 1 additional GPH

Although it's great to not have to run to the marina as often to fill up. That's the BIG benefit to us

Boattest.com post some data of the different boats, the MC X15 , 22 feet aprox. 4000lbs with 5.7l, goes 171NM on 90 gals, the Tige 22ve aprox. 4000lbs , 5.7l goes 168NM on 48 gals.

So Is the difference accounted for with hull design, I find this interesting, need to learn more about hull design. I always wondered why TIGE had smaller fuel tanks than Malibu and mc

What kind of weight are you talking about, surf, wakeboard? I always thought a PCM343 powered RZR would be a real kick in the butt....regardless of how much weight its pushing.

Our 24Ve has the EX343 with CAT exhaust and we regularly get 3.5-4.0 GPH when ultra-ballasted for surfing. The engine has ~120 hours on it so far. This is with a 1235 prop. Plenty of power on this 24 footer.

"Ultra-ballast" refers to the custom ballasting system I designed and installed in our boat. It's far beyond anything available from the factory, and is a good test for whether the EX343 can effectively power a 24 foot hull.

Yes, ours came from the factory with the 537 and I still have it as a backup prop. Our boat was originally shipped to Florida (low elevation) but was then shipped to WA/ID (elevation ~2200 feet). The great folks at Acme Propellers took all of the data for our boat, engine, and location and recommended the 1235 primarily because of the extreme ballast and 2200 MSL elevation. It's been working great.
