    Water Bilge

My 2003 tige riders edition seems to be having extreme water bulge (at least 5 min.) after only 10 min. of driving time. The water is splashing in the engine compartment making the carpet wet towards the back seat. This is a new boat to me and could use some help. Do I have a bad seal, hose? Anyone have some thoughts? Thanks.

Have you checked the seal around the prop shaft?

Likely causes are: Leaking shaft seal, missing or leaking engine drain plug, cracked block, rusted out or popped out freeze plug, hose left loose from winterization.

These would be my first checks. Do you have a means of running the engine with the boat out of the water? You will need a Fake-a-lake or just run the hose directly into the water supply hose. This will determine if the water is a result of the engine running or from the boat being in and moving through the water.

Drain all the water out of boat. Launch boat (DO NOT RUN ENGINE). Look/Listen and see if you see/hear water leaking.Everybody has mentioned good things to check. So you have a good starting point. Also if the boat has ballast they are notorious for cracking the nipple on the outlet of the ballast pumps. They are kinda hard to see in an 03 but it can be done. I have replaced all of mine since I bought it for this same problem. Really need to know if it leaks without the engine running or only when engine is running.
